I haven't been able to find another snes for a while so I think I'll go dreamsnes route, but I have one question. For this game whats the best route to go to get the same gameplay?

same as everything else.
turn sound to mono or off
you pretty much have to leave transperincies on to enjoy this game
after that play as usual. Game should play at or around 90%

I think I had a far better speed than 90% only - 100% :?: Try to check and compare speed with EU-PAL and US-NTSC versions (of your Metroid ROM) :!:

well the speedometer said 100%, but that is with very noticeable frameskip. The game is quite playable, but you will notice dropped frames. Especially when rapidly firing your laser.

sound on mono and transparencies off unless you're in maridia.

in which case kill the sound and turn on transparencies.
