dreamcast wont read burned games

Post by tanner4105 »

Ok I've asked a lot of people and got a lot of help. I'm guessing my dreamcast just won't read burned games. It plays music CDRs perfect, and it plays regular games and music CDs perfect to. is there anything i can do to fix it as in taking it apart and doing anything?

btw, it played burned games fine to around 2-3 years ago

thanks

You have to do a reverse burn that requires some modding to your cd burner. I have yet to see a model that this doesn't work with. First take apart your burner and look for the ffc(ribbon cable) connected to your laser assembly, cut the connection on the right side |||||||| <---this one and flip it around and plug it back in. after that just go through your normal burn cycle and it should work fine.
SCO=SCUM=M$=SCO it keeps repeating :P

Never mind him, he's an idiot.
Check the front page of the site to see if your dreamcast can take emulators.

Your dc might not be compatible with cdrs if it has a circled 2 on the back.

Yea, when I said burnt games I meant emulators. sorry about that. as toastman said it's NesterDC.
And I know it can, becuase I use to a couple years ago like I said.
And it has the circled "1" on the sticker and says June 2000.

Hey thanx for plugging the pawnshop in that post too. :wink:

Could be the brand of CDRs your using (Yes some brands don't work) try another brand of CDR pref. TDK or Ritek. and try the CDRs your using now on a buddies DC.

If you get no joy from either of the fore mentioned.

And as you mentioned your DC has played CDRs in the past, and you took my advice in another thread and used dir2boot which you can't really get wrong & burnt the dir2boot image under x4 with your burner.

It sounds like it is the laser.
