DreamSNES is alive (boohiss on the doubters)
I emailed Peter Bortas the other day, a developer of DreamSNES, and he basically said that it's still in development. I don't know what that means, but I suppose it's something good.

fyi... peter's site does not exist anymore. If anymore official dsnes were ever to be done, marcus's site would be where they would be done. Also, Marcus is still actively participating in dcdev as he posts in the dcdev yahoo group occasionally. Peter occasionally posts in the snes9x forums. No information about the dreamsnes project has been revealed since the core release.

Anyway - back on topic.
I saw a quote about a month ago from the devvers of DreamSNES. The way I interpreted it was:
We're not working on DreamSNES at the moment. We probably won't. Someone may very well make a final release of DreamSNES, but it's not very probable it will be us. We've released the source, so everyone can work on it now.

I truthfully think that SNES emulation is too damn hard on the DC, I think it maybe possible but no one has the time nor the patience for it, I just suggest either playing your snes emu on the PC,play the actual system or PRAY HARD for a pefect snes emu comes on the DC, but I just don't think it will happen. Scherzo told me that SFC is on hold so that is not active at the moment, so I guess Dsnes .98 is the best we are gonna have, its good enough consider the DCs power can't handle snes too well, it just amazing to see a wonderful system emulated on the first 128 bit home system :}.

sorry for bringing back an old topic but i have always been wondering why Superfamicast V1 without the dsnes core seems to be as fast if not faster than V2 with the core.
It is apparent that the team dont have the time to work on it and another release by the name of dreamsnes is unlikely. Why not lock this forum or change it to superfamicast, of whose developer(Scherzo) is still active in the dcscene (yes i know marcus still works on scumm but dsnes isnt even listed under his current or old projects in his official lysator page.)

After putting in the DSNES core, I thought, like everyone else, that I was going to be getting a huge speed increase. It didn't turn out that way. It might actually be faster a bit, but it's also more unstable and buggy. SFC is one of many things on my life long list of things to come back to. We shall see.DcSteve wrote:sorry for bringing back an old topic but i have always been wondering why Superfamicast V1 without the dsnes core seems to be as fast if not faster than V2 with the core.

for that reason, the best bet would be to ditch the dsnes core all together and just optimize v2 like you did with v1 if you or anyone ever goes back to the source.

LMAO, Dsnes was pretty good but I have to admit SFC was so much better. I like the way you could pick your sound quality and frameskip, I thought that was godly. well Scherzo if you ever go back to it, I hope it works good for you cuz your a great devver and look forward to your DC projects .
Have you played dreamcast today?
