Name five that are useful to non-geeks that have no equivalent on a Mac. If there are that many, you shouldn't have a problem.
Yes, please. Let's see a list.
kazaa
open canvis
bit tornado
rambooster
regcleaner
mevis becon typing
snag it
printmaster
cleancache

thats just off the top of my head.

It kinda unfair to compare windows to apple since windows has the problem of trying to be compatible with millions of companys hardware while apple makes there own..very unfair.

He said programs that have no equivalent. Let's see...

kazaa== acquisition/poisoned/xFactor
Open Canvas... no idea what this is, but I assume some kind of painting program which could be done in illustrator or photoshop
Bit Tornado== Bittorrent, Azureus, Tomato Torrent
Rambooster... again no clue... but go to http://www.versiontracker.com and type what it does.
Regcleaner-- There is no registry on Mac since I assumed this has to do with Registry
Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing.... any other type teaching program... besides who really uses these now? But for all fairness, Mario Teaches Typing.
Snag It.... what does this do that a Mac cannot?
Printmaster and CleanCache, again one sounds like a horrible program like Print Shop Pro, and the other sounds like some form of utility which is probably built right into OS X.

Again, he said not just programs-- but program equivalencies.... so name a program that has no equivalent on a Mac-- something you can do on WinXP that you can't on OS X. I'll give you Regcleaner or anything to do with the registry... but a few more?

PS: sorry if i came across as a jackass, just trying to take part in a friendly argument.

Well, why didn't you just say "most good windows apps that aren't on Mac" if you're going to be that informative

Anybody who denies the elegance and beauty of OS X is blind. That said Windows has come a long way in recent years and isn't the crash-prone piece of crap from 1996 that everyone seems to think it is. Millions of configurations and devices supported, that's something Windows has over OS X, and that really should count for something.

The iPod Shuffle is retarded, but I'm this close to plunking down on a Mac Mini. The only thing holding me back is my entirely unfounded hatred of Mac lovers/cultists. They like have a silent orgasm everytime they touch something with a shiny blue Apple logo on it...

~\/~

Completely and entirely unfounded and unfair hatred, but at least I'm honest about it. I don't need to make up lies about OS X or PowerPC or Steve Jobs or Jesus to justify how I feel. I JUST HATE THEM!!! THEM AND THOSE PEOPLE WHO WATCH CHARMED!!!

*cough* :D :kiss)

P.S. Obviously I just re-discovered the smileys popup...

Poisoned is a giFT frontend. giFT is a daemon that will connect to FastTrack.

Kazaa IS FastTrack. We have Macromedia Studio, download accelerators. Also, you keep listing programs that have to deal with Windows OS-specific functions. Obviously no one is going to port reg hack software to OS X. I think I see some mentioned about LAME.. which is a mp3 codec, which of course we have. Everything else would make you a prime canidate for not getting a mac. You're also an otaku.

and clean cache
Built-in. The system will happily clean all traces of your online activity for you.
and open canvas is pretty much for making comics but makes it real simple
Oddball specialist application. You can name a few hundered thousand of those for virtually any OS. But really, how many people actually use them?
and as for kazaa it cant be an equivilant if they connect to different p2p servers.
Actually, it can. But there are Kazaa clients available anyway.
rescoure tuner
soft ice
rescoure hacker
Err... "Resource tuners" are universally rubbish. None of them actually do anything. SoftICE is a debugger, and there are plenty of debuggers available. It's also a development tool - not really very useful to most people, is it? Resource hacking programs are irrelevant on non-Windows systems - you just don't need them.
screen booty
Never heard of it. Sounds like garbage / spyware.
flash mx
director studio
Present. As are pretty much all of Macromedia's other applications.
download accelerator
There are plenty of these. They don't really work unless the server's overloaded anyway, and in that case you shouldn't be using one...
systran translator *japanese*
Learn Japanese
Dunno. Again, oddball.
razor lame
Lame the MP3 encoder? Available for nearly anything. MP3 encoders in general are available on nearly anything too.
fruity loops
Garage Band? Never used either of them, but I think they're supposed to do the same thing.
RPG Maker series
fighter maker series
shooter maker series
sim dating series
Let's abbreviate this one... Games. We already mentioned games

Ask most of the industry to choose between Final Cut HD and Premiere Pro. See who wins.

Or for that matter, Shake, Motion, Logic Pro, etc. Trying to attack the Mac for a lack of media oriented applications is like trying to say that Sega never makes unique games.

if anything a lack of kazaa is an argument FOR buying a mac, that is one useless POS programm, the whole network is full of shit and to top if off, kazaa is a shit client which cant be trusted for its tendency to get spyware into your system, a friend of mine tried to download "troy" al three tries were german gay porn, other dude wanted daredevil, wound up with swedish porn (i dont have a problem with DLing porn, but if i want porn, ill look for porn, not any random movie)

honestly, i had kazaa installed once, but i used it for 2 downloads after which the paranoia got to me, and i went back to DC++

To all of you; stop naming programs and go search for an equivalent. Mac may not have 'Program X' but it'll have a program that will do exact same function.

search her dammit http://www.macupdate.com &

DVDShrink, DVDx == DVD2OneX, Roxio Popcorn, Fast DVD Copy, MacTheRipper
Winamp == Audion, iTunes, QCD, any other mp3 player really. Although I will give you the fact that we do not have Internet TV through any of these mp3 players
Gmain Notifier == Gcount, a few of them are on versiontracker
Nero Vision == Toast/Popcorn/Jam/another CD burning/compression app
