This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

Somebody popped in to tell us a little about the newest release of DC Playa - it seems to have everything that people have been wishing for, myself included :P.
zigziggy wrote:Ok, I think almost all your wishes are becoming true :)

A new release is available on our sourceforge site (https://sourceforge.net/project/showfil ... p_id=62669), it includes

- VBR

- BBA support

- a ffmpeg plugin to play video

- the missing NSF plugin at last

- possibly SPC plugin fixed (but not sure that I fixed the same bug you were talking about here)

Have fun !

probably not worth a newspost, but screamcast has redesigned and is having a (non-decisive) logo poll. we've also got a little bit up about the newly named COPPER SWAPPER.

Noone seems to have catched this:
[dcdev] SoftVMS 1.9 released

Marcus Comstedt <marcus@mc.pp.se> to dcdev Oct 3 (4 days ago)

Well, not much activity here so I might just as well post a shameless
plug... :-)

SoftVMS 1.9 has been released! (source, AmigaOS binary and DC binary)

New features:

* Now contains a port for the Dreamcast, so that you can play the
games directly from the memory cards. Also supports saving
(perfect for naming Chaos in SA2 :).

* Sound support (not implemented for (Win)DOS port).

* AmigaOS4 support

* Some minor bugfixes I think, it was a long time since the last
relese... :-9

Also, there is a working Netscape plugin for .LCD files included.

Downloads available at <URL:http://mc.pp.se/dc/sw.html>.

Enjoy.

Earlier this month, Los Angeles-based company Messiah ( http://www.playmessiah.com ) announced that it would go into business manufacturing new accessories for "classic" consoles. Their starting lineup includes wireless controller sets for NES and SNES, with controllers for Genesis...and a revised NES Advantage...on the drawing board.

I contacted them a few days ago about the potential of the Dreamcast market, and here is their reply:
Hello Ian,

Thanks for the info. It is great to see others continuing to support the
systems of yesterday. We would definitely like to get into the Dreamcast
market, but we need to move slowly. It has taken a very sizable investment
to develop new wireless controllers for NES/SNES. If we can break even you
can bet we will be supporting Dreamcast. It is one of my favorite systems.

Let's keep in touch.

If you still have a Nintendo or a Super Nintendo that you use, or are working on a DC project (such as a NesterDC emulation box) that uses NES control pads, you might want to consider shopping here. It's not that expensive, and the products are brand-new 2.4GHz wireless controllers. Helping them with their launch products will not only aid the classic gaming community, but also bring us one step closer to some new goodies for our beloved DC.

I released a Codename: Envenom Preview version, the long awaited survival horror mod for Quake 1. Read about it at the QuakeDev section.
"I'm convinced RenegadeC is in fact not a human, but rather an experimental IRC/QuakeC bot who has the ability to randomly formulate mods and code them, programmed to have a distinct Canadian personality as well."
