Well, i did it... Bought a friggin Cube
Hey everyone. I just bought a refurbished Gamecube, platinum, my favorite of all the colrs, and bought Metal Gear solid Twin snakes along with it! With an official Nintendo Memory Card. Paid $122 for all of it. Anyway! Name every mod oyu can think of for Gamecube. I wanna kep the platinum color, but change the LED, install a LED fan in the side if possible, haven't opened the system up yet and seen how it works... Modchip? Region switch? Light up the logo? what else can be done. I want my Cube looking sweet as the color! Would a white LED look cooler witht he the platinum than blue?
Why doesn't HTML work anymore on this damn forum!? God!

well err, not much left for me to contribute but here i go:
- build some leds in the underside, maybe use the expansionbays?
- controller port leds, to indicate when a controller / mem card is inserted
- disc acces indicator led
- rumble activated leds on the controller
and for the led color, i would suggest blue

I gotta admit, I though Gamecube sucked, but now, this little thing kicks ass! I need a few more games though. I got hooked on Twin Snakes last night. Over halfway through the game in my first sitting. Anyway, blue LED sounds good for the power LED, but white seems to fit the color of the console. I don't need a region switch. I dunno. I might just leave it alone. Well, for now. I always keave something brand new aone for a while. I left my DC alone for a long time after I got my first one. Now look at it!

Idea's:
Put a LED Fan on the vents for better airflow, color match to the power led
Add a Disc Activity LED
Controller Port LED's
Mem-Card LED
Mem-Card Access LED
LED's To illuminate where the disc goes.
50/60 hz switch
Lid switch
Window to view CD, also highlights the LED's, maybe throw in a window etching.
One Thought: CCFL's
Watercooling
Buy an ethernet adapter and hardwire it into the back of the cube, this would require a lot of soldering

there are tuts for disc acces leds for other machines, i think they just tap into the power for the drive motors or something, be carefull though that you dont ask to much power for the led and fry the board
and as for mem acces, youve got me, maybe use a relay to switch power when one of the data channels is activated, but adding load to a data channel might fuck up the data transmission

Thats why you dont actually request a lot of power, use a small relay so that when any amount of current is passed through it, it will then draw power from the PSU, and then pass that power to the LED. The current you would draw from the data channel would be miniscule enough so that the data transfer shouldnt become corrupted.

I got a Platinum Gamecube the other day. Lucky Nintendo seems to be stupid and not put any security seals on it, so if I screw up soldering anything it in it I'll just return it. Does anyone know what voltage the LED is? I want to replace that ugly orange thing. BTW, it's really easy to make a gamebit screw driver (needed to open the thing) with a pen.
