Yabause-dc News (and 0.0.7 release!)
I've finally gotten around to working on Yabause-dc again, and have some screenshots to share with everyone (taken from the 0.0.7 release codebase):
Sega Saturn logo:
Attempting to boot a game disc:
In the BIOS with the Dreamcast's cd door open:
In the BIOS again, this time after closing the cd door:
That's it for now, a release may come either around Christmas, or sometime early in January, it all depends on when everything looks right (i.e. fixing the missing cubes in the bios menu).

I could live with a 2D only Saturn emulator for the Dreamcast. The Saturn was the peak of 2D gaming. *sigh* I love my Dreamcast, but I could kill Sega for screwing up the Saturn here in the US.
Honesty may be the best policy, but it's important to remember that apparently, by elimination, dishonesty is the second-best policy.

Even just dealing with 2d stuff requires emulation of BOTH video chips and just about everything else in the Saturn. Yabause is meant to one day be complete, not to make things fast for the Dreamcast version. Besides the point that it would be faster to just emulate the 3D stuff, and not deal with 2D at all, however, as I said, we're doing everything. One day, Yabause will run at a playable speed, one day.Sorrie wrote:Well I mean you dont have to fully emulate the system to get just the 2d working you know....
I thank everyone for their enthusiasm about yabause

By playable, I mean at a speed that people could play games on with all the bells and whistles. Bear in mind, we're nowhere near that far yet.Sorrie wrote:Wow that's an extremly bold and flexed statement. Playable! But what is playable? Seriously some condsidered frameskiped underclocked no sound emulation as playable. What are you stating as playable?
And I'm glad people like it. The saturn is a pretty hefty piece of hardware to emulate, it just has SO MUCH to deal with. Also, remember, I'm not working on this alone, Yabause has a pretty good group of people all working together on it, I just manage the Dreamcast version (and throw in some stuff to the PC version any time I can )DCCase wrote:I'm just glad someone is trying to create a saturn emulator. From the way people describe the sega saturn hardware I'm suprised it's possible.
I look forward to seeing updates on this project, regardless of how long it takes, good luck BlueCrab.
