This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

would it be possible to get this working dsnes style, where sound doesnt skip or isnt static at least but just runs at the speed of the cpu. This is good be a good way for people to wait however long it takes for FAME or a new z80 core.

If you get genesis plus working with a sound very close to the real (i mean, all channels being played instead psg only, like a certain genesis emulator)but running at 22050hz,it will be the best genesis sound ever done for a dc emulator. If you consider the sound you hear in other emulators, this sample is more than enough to make the people happy, and even with this lower frequency you told, its still very good.Dcsteve...i think ive already seen this name before...Wasnt it the name that appeared when i finished Mega Sonic on my dc yesterday?Oh my...

Not really. The SNES sound hardware is quite different to the MD sound hardware. The main problem is the DAC, used for sampled sound playback, which needs to be emulated very accurately relative to the rest of the system. With the SNES sound hardware, you can just generate as many samples as you require at any time, but you can't do that with the MD's hardware. You could if you ignored the DAC, but that'd make a lot of games sound crap.

BlackAura wrote:In theory, Genesis Plus should end up sounding exactly like Gens does, although probably at a lower sampling rate (like 22050Hz). While that's still not quite right, it's very close, and probably more than close enough for most games.
That's certainly good enough for an emulator, but not enough that I'd unhook my Genesis. ;)

Eventhough some emulators are very good, like sms+,no emulator can substitute the original console. But a good emulator has its advantages.I have a Mega Drive III,and a game genie cartridge and i never could find it out whether game genie is compatible with Mega Drive III.I've already tried everything, but no success. When i put game genie cart in console, whatever is the game i try,it always returns to codemasters screen when i press start. With such a good emu, like Genesis Plus is supposed to be,in the moment i find RAM start address using Game Shark,i can convert game genie codes to use'em on genesis plus. Its also possible to find ROM start address and make some changes in a rom.The emu i and cristfc have already given up trying to do it seems to have a anti-game shark filter!

i cant wait for Genesis Plus...

Yes....a game genie feature in genesis emulator is not a bad idea...Mega Drive/Genesis sound is hard to be emulated..... But a emulator runs to 100% fps dont need a good sound... Hey DcSteve, you post in Gamikaze, allright? your mod is very good, it remember old mega man games!

When a preview is released, it may be an official or unnoficial (not released by the author, and most times leaked) preview.

WHEN it will be ready...is the main question.
