Xbox price slashed to ?199!

I just read that Microsoft will cut the price of the xbox in the UK by ?100 to ?199 due to sluggish sales.

The price has also been cut in Australia, as of APril 26 it will be $399. People who bought it at $650 will get $250 worth of Xbox products as a "gift".

Nah you don't understand that the Euro Xbox was previously out at an equivalent price of over $400 in Europe (near to $450, I think).
This is good news for Euro and Aus gamers who haven't got an Xbox yet... but possibly not a great sign of how things were selling?

its really cool that there giving stuff in return to people who already bought it, no company i know of ever did this, even though they can afford it this kinda makes them not seem like corperate monkeys.

OK... now according to MS's Website this 2 controllers and free game is valid until April 26th, and the price cut is effective immediately (check your favorite games shops kids - Xbox marked at ?200)

If you're quick...

Xbox, 2 controllers, and 2 games for a stunningly bargaintastic ?200 if you buy your Xbox within the next week or so!!!!!!

It's two free games and a controller......... Hey! An advert for DOA3 is on my TV now!...... how cool is that?!?!?!?!

...... anyway......

You're better off waiting until 26th April to see what free games you can get. According to the EU site, they're working on adding more games to the list that can be chosen from.

Dead or Alive 3 here I come!

Oh... and 3 player games too!

Maybe they'll add Max Payne... I wouldn't mind getting that!

Never thought I'd say this, but nice one Microsoft. Not only are they listening to demand and dropping the price, but they are also compensating people who had previously purchased one? My god.. I wish Sony would have dont that with the PS1.. Too bad I live here in the US and Xbox's price isnt changing any time soon..

Tofu, I wouldn't complain about living in the US; here in Europe our Xbox prices are only just coming in line with yours. They were vastly more expensive than the American boxes up until this price cut.
Unless Microsoft honour the deal when people buy discounted xboxes.

Actually, Dr Wily... the price cut doesn't take effect until the 26th April... buying an Xbox right NOW will only mean you have to pay ?300 for a console and a pad but you can also claim the two games and an extra contoller. It'll still cost ?300 for the package.

If you wait until AFTER the 26th April, the console and pad will be ?200 and you WONT be able to claim those 2 games and extra pad... but who cares? You saved ?100, so you can buy them with that! Easy!
