Headhunter
I was wondering what the general census was on the game Headhunter. I was looking at the screenshots for the ps2 version and it got me intrested in the dreamcast version.
So I have two questions,
1) Is it good,
2) If it's worth of me getting is there a way that I could play it on an ntsc console. I use a VGA adapter if that makes any diffrence.
Also how's the ps2 version. Should I spend the $10 + shipping on ebay to get it?

I imported it for Dreamcast...it has a few flaws (questionable enemy AI being the big one), but overall it was a very satisfying game. I've managed to beat it twice through (there's a glitch in one of the 2nd-time-through missions, but it's not that hard to work around), and it's easily one of my 3 favorite games for the system.
I've never played the PS2 version, so I don't know how it compares...the PS2 is a lot cheaper, though, and I'd imagine the FMVs aren't as artifacted. So you'll have to ask Impetus about the differences.

Agreed. You must buy this game. It worth every dollar that you spent.
Very good game.
Headhunter is one of my favourite DC games ever. Yeah the motorbike controls are a bit weird, but it's still a fun game. Cruising around on the bike is fun
Ive still yet to get to the bike bits on HeadHunter Redemption, though

It's not that good. To be honest I', sick of the sight of it.
Complete it .. unlock v2 mode ...
Complete v2 ... unlock v3 ...
Complete v3 unlock v4 ...
and so on up untill v8
I'm currently on v4 not had time to be unlocking v5, but to be honest if I had time I don't think I could be bothered anyway. I thought it wasn't too amazing the 1st time I went through it, now I never want to see it ever again! If redemption isn't as good as the 1st and I htought the 1st sucks ass, then there is no hope for me ever buying redemption.

[very confused]...I thought there were only 2 versions. Are there any differences v2-v8 other than some slight changes to enemy movement/fighting patterns?LeGIt wrote:It's not that good. To be honest I', sick of the sight of it.

Basically it's the usual stuff - smarter AI, different patrol patterns, they take more shots to kill yet kill you a lot faster -_- apart from that bugger all difference.DaMadFiddler wrote:[very confused]...I thought there were only 2 versions. I enjoyed the variety in gameplay on Headhunter 1.
The gameplay mechanic was rock-solid, and you really felt like a badass cop pumping lead into low-lifes.
The bike kicked ass... it felt like a real motorbike simulator.
It had a few glitches, but nothing major.
Now I'm playing the sequel, Headhunter: Redemption. Predictably, it has been slammed by critics, and while I really like the game, they do have a point in some of their comments.
Sega "pulled a Raiden" on Headhunter fans, by introducing a new character. Hell, she even does Raiden-style cartwheels.
There's less emphasis on stealth. Actually, stealth is pretty much impossible, as the characters move way too fast to sneak effectively. You just gotta bust out, take cover, and shoot enemies action movie-style. Very cool.
But the control scheme is a bit clunky at times. It feels like MGS2 in this respect, you have to practice a bit to get the hang of things.
Gameplay is way too smooth. You'll play 1/4 of the game with no intermissions, cut-scenes, or load times whatsoever. I would have liked a few interruptions, speacially between puzzles.
So, in the end this is a good game, with a few flaws. The character animations are mediocre, and in some cases downright poor. Still, there's enough of the same intense Headhunter gameplay from the first one, so it's pretty much a must-buy for fans of the original.

I really enjoyed it, until the game had too many maze-like interiors. I got stuck at some point, and stopped playing it. Still have the save file, and it is in my list of games to beat.

In my opinion:
- Shenmue aside, HH has the best graphics on DC (for the genre)
- MGS aside, HH is the best stealth-action game for its time
it has:
- varied gameplay
- interesting story
- interesting puzzles
- interesting boss fights
- LEILA (time attack!)
- good humour
- excellent design overall (menus, characters, etc.)
- excellent music
A MUST for Dreamcast fans!!!
