Wrestling fans with Gamecubes: WWE Day of Reckoning released

The newest WWE game from THQ is out for the Gamecube, WWE Day of Reckoning. So far its got great scores from Gamespot and IGN (8.2 and 8.3). I picked up the game today and so far its easily my 2nd favourite wrestling game ever behind No Mercy

oh and did I mention the game has Bret Hart in it?

It looks like smackdown :/

Is it by AKI? Or should I just not even bother looking into it as a non-wrestling fan?

Its not an AKI game, but the gameplay is very similar to AKI's previous efforts. If you're not a wrestling fan then I'd recommend a rental to see if you like it or not, its worth a look. If you are a wrestling fan then its a definite purchase for sure

even though i dont have a ps2, i have a cube and xbox dc..

but smackkdown is king.. oh and wwe dor on gc is made by yukes they make smakcodnw.

smackdown looks better though than this, it also has voice now in season full speech for everyone except legends and caw wrestler

also more wrestlers and match types. oh and online play
** on dor for gamecube it has a smalelr roster u can only play as caw in season, it still a smaller season than smackdown but its more built as u make a new character... so if u wanna play as others its of to exibition matches

i do wonder what wrestlemania 21 will be like on xbox next year same group that made tao feng on xbox is making it.

I'm definitely going to try out this game sometime soon. It looks pretty good in my opinion. Let's hope I figure out the controls easily enough. o_o

a.k.i is rumored to be the team that will make the TNA wrestling video game.. last news was late last year about tna in talks with electronic arts. and since aki makes the def jam fighting/wrestling game.. they could be the team to make tna

Maybe coz the last couple were too much like smack down, and every one complained coz all most people wanted was a no mercy sequel!

Smackdown is buttonmashy crap and if AKI have nothing to do with this, looks like I won't either.

The season isn't like a normal year in the WWE though, the story revolves around a young and upping kid (i.e. you) making his way through the developmental ranks into Heat/Raw/Smackdown/etc. It wouldn't exactly make much sense to play as The Rock in the developmental program

The game may not have been made by AKI but trust me, its still extremely close to the gameplay in No Mercy, not Smackdown. Some of my wrestling buddies came over last night and they are die-hard No Mercy fans and refuse to play any other wrestling game, but we played 4-player DoR and even they think the game is great. We played for hours and they picked up the controls pretty quickly and we had a lot of close matches because of how close it is to No Mercy, and some of them are buying the game today too. Rent it at least and you'll see
