Low-Budget graphics/video card suggestions

Post by molotovwars »

Alright so now that I need to replace my NVIDIA Geforce 2 MX/MX 400 graphics card I'm looking for recommendations. I don't really play PC games, mainly because I have so many consoles and their games, so I'm looking for a basic (low-budget) video card that wouldn't have to play games. I would just buy a new pc, but I'm going to wait a year for college. So until then I just need something to hold me off. If I had the necessary RAM (currently I have 256) and the processor speed I'd splurge for a nice card to play DOOM 3, but seeing as I don't I just want something basic.

If the price difference isn't much also recommend something that would be capable of playing ut2k (despite my low ram).

Thanks

You just asked what I recently asked.

I needed to replace my geforce 2 mx/mx 400 and just bought an ATI Radeon 9600 256MB.
Fairly cheap cos I had a pretty small budget too...

Wow, what is it with everyone needing video cards all of the sudden? There seems to be a new topic exactly like this about once a week.

I have a 5200, overclocked, of course, and I can run most games on high with little to no skip.

Need helping picking a Laptop

Post by JuddWack »

I took a first level script writing class last semester and found it a pain in the ass to have to force myself to write at my computer on nice days and just a pain in general This semester I'm taking a 2nd level script writing, which is 100-120 pages. I am interested in a cheap laptop. What I'd like to be able to do is:

Type documents (obviously)
Minor photoshop things
Counter Stike: Condition Zero
Wireless internet card.

I don't know much about laptops so can you guys give me some info, where I should get it, and a rough estimate on how much this will cost.

Thanks
