what about not being so lazy before starting threads that could finish in flames? anyway, people's opinion is not so important, what counts is how you like them. you can use sbi or dchakker/demomenu to have both on the same disc if thats the only thing that stops you.

Funny this topic came up just now as I was testing both out against each other. Famicast is coming along good, but to be honest Dreamsnes is smoother with better sound and speed ratio. Keep in mind that Dreamsnes has been around a long time in comparison to Famicast. Overall both are playable in most aspects. The menu system in Famicast is far better than Dreamsnes though. I think the menu is quite fantastic Scherzo(if you read this). If Scherzo continues to better Famicast I don't see any reason why it won't eventually overtake Dreamsnes.

famicast does have great potential. if it reaches that potential remains to be seen. its all a matter of willpower and time.

I disagree. Actually, I think the sound in SF2 is a lot better than the sound in DreamSNES. I think it all depends on what games you play.
Keep in mind that Dreamsnes has been around a long time in comparison to Famicast. Overall both are playable in most aspects. The menu system in Famicast is far better than Dreamsnes though. I definitely agree with that.

Actually I should clarify myself a little and be more specific.

The menu system is definitely in favor Famicast. Many more options for sound, frame skip and other options. The games come up directly as compared to the loading of names by Dreamsnes. The shift from game to menu is smoother and better designed.

The actual emulation is better in Dreamsnes with smoother frameage compared to Famicast. Dreamsnes is slightly ahead of Famicast as far as speed with sound or without. Dreamsnes looks like it runs at a 1 frameskip without fullscreen on mono sound and is quite close to full speed. Where as the best speed with Famicast is about 2 to 3 frameskip with poor sound quality(1 or a 2).

Sound is tricky. The sound is actually better in Famicast when turned to maximum quality(7), but the games are very very slow even with a 3 frameskip(15fps). So to actually play the games at good speeds with a good balance of sound and frameskip Dreamsnes comes out ahead with a better speed and sound ratio.

I admit some games run better On DSNES then on famicast but then again some games run on Famicast better than Dsnes, I personally say at this point in time its really a tie until super famicast V3 comes out.

I kind of have to agree with you on that one, Link. Actually, whenever I burn an SNES disc, I usually put both emus on there, because there are some games that I prefer playing in SuperFam (I, personally, like the way DKC runs in SuperFam better than the way it runs in DSNES, and the sound is a hell of a lot cooler in SF). However, if I throw on Family Feud, I would rather play it on DSNES, because the sound-skipping kind of makes me nauseous on that game.

The only real issue with putting both emus on one disc, is that you actually have to put two copies of each rom on the disc, because SuperFam won't read the DSNES rom list (AFAIK), and DSNES doesn't work very well without a romlist. At least you can throw zipped copies of the roms on there for use with SuperFam, though.
