One more thing to add that often gets forgotten. I suspect many of the coders have real day jobs and real life things to deal with (families, etc). All of those things always come first. Many of them likely code as a hobby and enjoy it. And by and large, many of us are getting a free lunch from their hard work and efforts. Constantly asking won't make things go faster.
Sorry about that, but as burnerO first replied, there seem to be too many of these threads started.

Link, your SNES can actually play import games. Carts have no region code. If you look in the slot you will see 2 little tabs that don't move. Basically just remove your top, and pop those tabs and the cart will just slide in. Now if you want the translations of certain games then hell yeah I can't wait for SNES on DC. (Oh you can do the same thing to a gen but it takes a little bit more work. but the import carts will fit.)

Hmm not the case PAL version of DK3 has a lock-out and will not let you play it on ntsc machine. Same goes for the dk3 nstc version i know it says it on the screen when i try and boot it on my snes.
Dreamcast forever!!!

SNES has a lockout chip; without satisfying or disabling this chip the system will not boot. The NTSC consoles and cartridges all use the same unlock sequence, while the PAL ones have a different sequence. The same is true of NES and N64. This can be defeated by a type of converter that has two cart slots - one slot gets the signals from the lockout chip on a native game, the other slot takes everything else, or you can just disable the lockout chip in the system. In N64's case it's more complicated as there are five versions of the lockout/boot protocol and the chip you're using must match the game, but the vast majority of games use the original one found in Super Mario 64 et. al.
In the case of games like DK3 that boot but deliberately stop running, the game is performing further checks on the system in its own code; this is unrelated to the lockout chip.

hey, scherzo, i know i'm boring, and i have just asked (but got no response)...
you said that you started working on older snes9x sources...
i ask, did you notice differences in speed? thinking about releasing some SF with the older snes9x version? What do you expect in the future?
[and what the hell is that DS project? (guess it's not emulation related...]
Maybe a dream (sensible) soccer? [i would shed tears for it...]

I haven't ported any old s9x source yet. I'm just considering the idea. Right now, speed seems much more attractive than compatibility. So, yes, if it turns out to make a big difference I would definitely release a version of SF based on older s9x version.karsten wrote:hey, scherzo, i know i'm boring, and i have just asked (but got no response)...

As for DS, you're right, it's not emulation related.
