Cool Herders Music request!

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

Cool Herders Music request!

Post by Tursi »

Since the musician we had lined up went and got himself marred*, and we're trying to keep to a schedule now (even though we haven't said much!), we are seeking a musician for the Cool Herders project. :)

We're looking at about 7-8 tracks. If you've seen the demo then you've got a general idea of the game's theme and mood, more details will go to the successful candidate. :) We intend to replace the existing themes in order to ensure that the musical style is consistent throughout. Existing tunes are fine with us if they fit the style and you don't mind Cool Herders using them. :)

As far as style goes, we're pretty flexible if you have ideas (and that's what we want - someone with ideas). The existing tunes are good, but a little thin, so we're looking for more polished music. Remixes would be fine. Music will be played back in OGG format.

You can grab the Dreamcast demo at http://harmlesslion.com/games/herders if you have not seen it. If you've got some sample music you want to show off, send an EMAIL to me: tursilion{at}harmlesslion.com with a LINK to the tune, please do not attach it. Please also include notes about how your available time is and how very roughly how long it takes you to create a tune.

Thanks! :)

---
(edit) * - married, not marred. He's quite intact!

i would love to do some game music again - but my current style of music writing may be inappropriate for the game (not that I couldn't do it - just my currently released tunes really do not prove my style to the genre of game here :) )

Maybe I could make some music for Cool Herders...mellow,sugar-coated BGM for those cute, fluffy sheep :)

Just to set up my PC and dust off my friend's DC and I'll see what I can do.

I kind of figured nakamichi would be the one to reply. You should have some fantastic bg music in no time.

I'll see if I can find some free time to do the music...

Until then, you can enjoy the very incomplete "alpha" version of my Italo dance MIDI re-mix of some of the more popular Italo artists of the 80's,with a major rearranement(Nakamichi-style) and some original parts composed by myself.
All optimized for the Microsoft/Roland DirectSound Synthesizer found in Windows XP.

Tursilion probably already has the MIDI file in his mailbox.Take a listen to that one (synthesizer hits rule)

If anybody knows the artist/track of the music from the very last part of this re-mix,
please help... I'm searching for this track for years :(
hint: there are 4 tracks remixed in this remix+some of my own stuff...
You can recognize the songs from Miko Mission,David Lyme,??? and ???
??? and ??? are what I need to know who they are.

Thanks, Naka! I just listened to it, and it's pretty cool! (Though, I didn't actually recognize any of the existing music. :) )

I'll just send this off to Binky for his input. :)

You didn't because it's mostly rearranged and there's a good deal of my own composition into it :)

And,who is Binky,by the way? :)

Here's a low-quality mp3 sample of the first track from my MIDI mix :)

http://www.dance80.com/demo/01%20-%2047.mp3

Here is a link to an argentina retro italo remix which includes the first 2 songs from my MIDI remix :)

http://ar.geocities.com/maxmixftp/maxmix2.mp3

- the last song of this mix is the second from my MIDI mix :)
- the fourth song from the remix is the first in my MIDI file :)

Don't expect this kind of music in Cool Herders :P
It's a SHEEP game after all...that means there'll be some BAAAAAAA~ sounding tunes :)
Some happy country banjo stuff, cheezy scratches, sheep sounds, and some cool beats and bouncy bass.

hee.. I see.

Binky is the guy who came up with the original concept for the game and drew all the artwork. I'm just organizing, directing and programming. ;)
