DCSpeccyalK V0.2 released

DCSpeccyalK V0.2 released

I have released version 0.2.

What's new :

- Added loading/saving of compressed memory snapshots (4 slots available, display free VMU memory blocks). Accessible via start+left trigger. Can be used to save your hardly typed basic programs to memory card or save a game and play it later.

- Correct border emulation (line by line).

- Stability problems have been fixed once for all. But unfortunately I had to remove the bilinear and fullscreen options (temporary, I hope), until I find a way to add PVR/DMA support without the previous problems.

- Autoload of .TAP files ! This will avoid typing the very annoying LOAD"" in basic. Requires 2 additional files on the cd, in the /lib/ directory. Multilevels .TAP games should also benefit from a complete rewrite of the .TAP handling code. Press START + B to rewind the tape if it's necessary (if the game requires to rewind the tape to load a previous level)

- Fixed the interface issues quite a bit : left trigger = virtual keyboard, right trigger = options, start + left trigger = load/save, start + right trigger = file browser. start is still used in all screens as a confirmation key.

What do you you mean by "EHM" ?

I didn't try these games. I know I had problems with the previous tape code.
Yesterday I spent all my evening trying .TAP files and 95% of them are now loading. What a big difference from the previous code.

Now I'm going ot focus on the TZX file format.

:D tyrell, i speak of games with multiload levels, for example, i load the game GAUNTLET ok?
WELL, after wich the game load the firSt 8 levels, the game don't load the next levels, my english is poor exscuse me.
i want know if this version of your emulator have resolve this problem :wink: .

try this games GAUNTLET, GHOULS N GHOST, STRIDER, :wink:

I have tried ghouls and ghosts but I have not passed the first level (not the time to play and it's way *too difficult* for me :) ) So I'll let you appreciate whether or not this version has solved the problem. Same for gaunltlet and other games. What I know is that the new tape code has increaded the .tap compatibility.
The new version should include a tape deck emulation (with play/start/stop/rewind buttons). I'm also working hard to bring tzx emulation. Either I'll try to include someone's else code or I'll rewrite everything myself. Dunno yet.

:D true GHOULS N GHOST is difficult, :| but GGAUNTLET is easyyyyyy :D , in this days try the emulator and tell you, eventual problems ok? :wink:

This is the first release I have tried of this and I think it's great - even better than ZXIshpectrum. I found the menus a bit confusing, but once I got a game going and switched to keyboard I had hours of fun playing Football Manager. Great work Tyrell!

Thanks for your positive feedback !

TZX files are almost working ! I can hear the typical tape sound, I can see the red/blue border but I think there's a timing problem somewhere because the program name is wrong ("Program: ?????????"). It's very frustrating ;)

_tyrell_ its going well,

48k emulation is excellent, dunno about 128 as i've only got robin of the hood to try and that seems to go speedup and slowdown sometimes, also when you get shot the white noise sounds aint there and the border just flashes? is the white noise part emulated ?
right heres what i've noticed
when i start a game of jetpac the border is yellow and flashes like crazy everytime you fire, the border is supposed to just be black.
this also happens with Pssst and cookie, these are all "ultimate play the game" games, but it doesnt happen with atic atac ???
btw this emulator works so good with atic atac its real nice to play.

also i lose sound in the emulator after a while, i think it happens when changing the emulated spectrum to use, i'm not sure, but this happens quite a bit and the only way to get it back is to reset. :(


is it possible to have another key to define, the more the better ?
i'm gonna do some .KEY lists for the best games when i have some time
and want to know if i will be able to include a fire 3 at the end?

it is good to have 60hz full screen, but for perfection you should have an option for 50hz pal like the real display, i know the games run a 50hz speed i know this doesnt bother you, but having pal50 screen would make it perfect, sorry to keep going on about the display again.
i don't know if it can be done anyway or if it would take a lot of effort

and for anyone who wants it, i put an SBI of the latest version
here
its tested and works

anyway keep it up, i always get excited when a new version arrives, but i'm well pleased with the latest one. :D

I know aboit the flashy borders in jetpac. Dunno where it can come from. Very strange !

I don't emulate white noise in particular (excepted in 128k mode) but there's something wrong with sound in 128k in some games where the sound is somewhat distorted.

A PAL/NTSC is not impossible at all. Maybe in the next version ??

All the games .tap .z80 support multiload, work perfectly

With games .slt have found problems for multiload, but this is a minor problem <
I want find GAUNTLET AND GAUNTLET2 in .tap version, why in .slt don't work :) .

I haven't speak for tell thank you, for this GREAT WORK. :wink:

With games .slt have found problems for multiload, but this is a minor problem <
Fixing SLT code is on my planning but not an absolute priority.

I first want to add a correct .TZX support, because many many games use that format.
