dvd on dreamcast

probably a stupid question but there has to be a way to play dvds on dc. will an adapter work? It could be an adapter that plugs into the serial port be i dont know anybody here about any of this?

There is no way to play dvds on Dreamcast sadly. You can however play .mpg and .avi

um.....i have thought of a way but why do this when u can just play it on your dvd here it is anyway

1.Us dup-dvd 2.3 to rip the dvd to a mpg file

2.And then just play that mpg with Gyplay

his works perfectly except for the downfall that you can only download the demo version of dup-dvd 2.3which rips only 1/3 of the dvd unless of course if you buy it which i might do

You should check out http://www.vcdhelp.com, they help with encode stuff.

yeah the best way would be to convert it to eiter mpg or a dcdivx-compatible avi and then burn it with gypplay or dcdivx.

even if the dreamcast was able to read dvds it wouldn't be able to decode them in realtime...

http://www.divx-digest.com is also a useful website, its where I go for stuff like that.

I think there was a DvD player mod being made for the dreamcast (hardware) but it got canelled in the end. Dont know if it was official Sega or not though.
