cd-rw on dc

i was burning a mpg on a cd-rw and tried it on dc but it didnt work. do i need a boot disk or is it my DC? well if u can help or not help it dont matter its just a question

The dreamcast doesnt support CD-RW, just try a normal CD-R.

well i heard a rumor and believe it's a nice way to kill your dc but it seems if you set the potentiometer on the dreamcasts laser to some different value... i think it was 550 ohm... or 650? well then it would be able to read them... but i'm pretty sure that won't work and only kill your dc like i already said

If you don't screw up and kill your DC right away, I've heard that it does cut the life of your DC short by quite a bit. DemoMenu and multi-session CD-R's is a good way to cut down on the number of discs your burn, though.

I did that to my DC and it worked for a couple years after. The GDROM motor finally died, but it was the very 1st production run of DC's so it was pretty old anyway.

I wouldent reccomend doing it, its just too risky even if you do it successfully.
