NEOCD/SDL DC status update

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

OMG! I CANT BELIEVE THAT WAS ALL THAT WAS WRONG WITH CONRTOLLERS!!!!

I spent like 5 hours striaght then another 3 rewritting the controls over and over in KOS and trying to fix the SDL ones to no avail. Great to see that its fixed though =).

Still the CDDA bug and SFX to work out if we have to we can use gensis plus and use and addapt the code from there to here it's very much the same in places and would take some work but we have kos sound.

Yellow screen error on games is due to the memory file trying track it down but it's constant with thr bios patch left for upload.

I know how frustrating problems like this can be, but please, for the love of all that is good, don't smash your Dreamcast!

No don't do that, go chase an animal faster then you and attempt to punch it. Once you realize you can't catch it and your tired you can sit down and try fixing the problem. Repeat as many times necessary.

Ok

What we have for v7
- auto saving and auto save loading
- Proper auto loading waits for you to open the lid and close it
- bois screen grafix fixed
- Proper 2 player controls
-Status reports are clear and easy.
- new improved splash screen ( waits on our artist)
- more speed in 1 player mode 2 players has some speed impact not that much.
- code optimizing Cpu settings and compiler optimizing

Mostly Trigger Select button for pause in game Very much needed.

Coming along Still the problem if i remove the bios patch Auto saving and loading break and kof99 and lots of games will not load so You might have to put up with messed kof99 loading screens if i can find out why this does this.

To save speed, a good idea would be to have the 2nd player controller have to be 'turned on'. Have a conditional thing that does not check the entire controller, but only the start button, and once the start button is pressed, check it all. That way you save yourself a 5 if statements every cycle into 1.

It's not the bad now on games like league bowling 2 players has no effect on speed so i say it's pretty good. I have the trigger select now fosters sent me only needed 2 small fixes.

Every thing is going good. but the Bios patch with it breaks games but fixes loading screens on the dc version if i want auto saving the messed loading screens on kof will have to be put up with or the whole thing breaks fo that game on the dc build one of those tings.

Does the additional controller code hurt it that much?

The second controller should make no difference.
what extra code is there that would slow it down?

Hi,

Wow, It has been rather a long time since I posted anything lol. I wanted to say this is super cool that you (Reaper aka Ian and Team) have pulled off the seemingly impossible. Congrats. I was wondering about how fast is this emu so far? Like FPS rating and overall speed on say the KOF series in relation to DreamSnes? (what I mean is, is it slower then DreamSnes or is it about even or faster?) Over all I have to say it is amazing what has been done in my absense. Programmers in the DC emu scene never fail to amaze me :)

yea, i forgot about the structure of the controls. i was thinking of the way i had my KOS controls that it was 2 seperate test input things one for each controller. SDL works a bit differently...

yeah it's not the control as such but the double number of sprites. Most games it's fine.

I think i should wait till all dc sites like dcemu.co.uk are back up for the release.
