GBA Port

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

It's well known by me. If you notice it was in my top 10 homebrew list I gave to Ian Micheal.

I have to give my congratulations to you on that game. I really enjoyed it. You captured the feeling of Rick Dangerous completely - and playing a Christmas romp with Rick was quite fun. :)

i actually found it to be better than rick dangerous.. i have dc port of rick dangerous and the controls just ticked me off. but this one kicks butt. the controls are comfortable you dont hafta think about them. now im seeing why the big push for a gba emu on dc just for homebrews....im planning on gettin a gba soon since i am always on the road between home and college more than i am home to play my consoles. how are the homebrews playable on gba itself... is it thru that flash cart i seen before.
and to meta do you know of any good gba homebrew platformers or action/rpgs for gba i went to pdroms and theres a load of games i dunno what to pick.

Yeah, I've been meaning to go back to the xRickDC source and make the controls more console friendly - as well as fix the sound. I'm in the mood to work on SDL ports a bit again whenever I get spare time, so I'll finish up xRickDC. 8)

just a quick update.

I finally got a rom directory listing and selection working, now my alpha testers(IAN and wragster) won't have to burn one homebrew game at a time :) to test them out.

Troy Could you make a simple function that quits the emu or gets back to the main menu. Just would speed things up on testing You have to reload the dc tool cd every time to try the next game.

Just normal quit would do.

Thanks.

From the top ten here are the pics so-far

Unofficial Blues Brothers GBA Remake, The v.0.03 (PD)
Image

Pretty neat remake use to remember playing this on the c64
it was pretty good on that this has some improvements and
is fun to play.

Speed was very slow on it

Dangerous Xmas (Fixed Version) by Spoutnick Team
Image

Here's a good game has the classic feel and in a christmas mode.
I did not see the controls being all the Changed or better as posted in
the thread it played well just like Rick does. Very good looking and nice
effects

Speed was a touch faster then the blues brothers not playable

M-Type-Marsu-Version05b

Ive posted about this one it's a good rtype clones uses grafix from
pulstar i would never have spoted that if i dont use that game as a test on neogeo cd project. Still very good and nice clone ive played it a bit now.
Waves of fighters can be a little the same after a while.

Speed was better then the other to games Still not playable at this stage.

The Tragical Historie of Rodion and Rosalind by Bertil Hoerberg

THis game is a real winner to me very nice Rpg type action game looked very close to retail game. Only a few problems it's more a demo would be nice to see a finshed version one day

here's some info from the author

Features:
A great long epic quest spanning over five minutes of gameplay!
A revolutionary action filled battle system!
Not very beautious graphics in full 2D!
Two different endings!

Sound works i can almost make out the tune. Speed was very slow.

I think the speed for most is between 4 to 10 fps at a guess Sound on or off makes no change to the speed.

I forgot to tell you, press tab, backspace and enter and it will bring you back to the main menu. then press ALT if you want to return to the game.

Yeah game are very HQ some very polished this is only 10 of them i last count at 1000 lots and lots and good emulaton on the gba as well. I say the games are a little stronger over all at this time suprizing really to my self. there on par some better then what ive played in the dc scene. Thou it's a lot harder to code for the dc since the gba the cpu is much more known.

My sentiments exactly - I never felt like shelling out all that money for a flash cart (not to mention the fact that I never had that money), and never really thought about trying it out on my PC. I pretty much play games exclusively on my DC and GBA. It would be really cool to be able to play the GBA homebrew on my DC (since I can't play it on my GBA, and I don't play on my PC).

Kroustibat, that game looks very nice. I just downloaded it and will try it out later.

We should make a compilation of the best homebrew GBA games to celebrate the release of this awesome emu. What do you guys think?

I think that we should wait for the emu to be released first, but after that, that sounds like a good idea.
