NEOCD sbi...

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

NEOCD sbi...

Post by ethoscapade »

is there some sort of holdup in releasing an sbi for NeoCD version 4 or 5? CG put up sbi for versions 2 and 3 on his site last week, and left a post promising to have v4 up the next day, last friday, but has been a mystery since.

i tried making one myself and it didn't work, which leads me to believe that i am either terrible at understanding simple instructions (possible - although i made my own v3 sbi and that worked), or something has changed in this version, which would also explain the delay on CG's side.

i beg you guys, please help, i'm kind of cheap with CD-R's (well, everything, but CD-R's in this instance) and i would really like metal slug on my DC.

thanks.

Sorry. That's my fault. I haven't been in my office recently, so I've been on a dial-up connection. Plus, they are releasing versions so quickly, I am having trouble keeping up. I will try to get one done tonight (no promises).

it...doesn't seem to be working...

it's farther than i got; i.e. it doesn't pull a segagen and simply restart selfboot inducer when i select it, however, i just get a black screen.

after reading some of the emulator documentation, this seems to suggest i don't have a bios, which i do.

i have no idea.

You can use the selfboot tool created just for it as well.. it checks for all the right files. Could not be easyer.

how do you even make your own SBIs? I'm really wanting some help if that's ok. Please. I want to try and make my own Nester SBI even though it's pointless. It's so convenient, so how do you do it?

i know, i know, the selfboot tool is nice, i used it to confirm that i have the right bios...but...i'd kind of like it on the same disc as nester, dreamsnes, and sms plus, you know?

jessman - there are tutorials on CG's site, which is linked in his sig up above.

Tutorial on making SBIs using SBI Builder.

curt_grymala also has a tutorial on making them manually over at his site, so you may want to check that out also.

Thanks, I'll try that. But Curt's TUT didn't work at all. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I renamed the ZIP file with a .sbi but it didn't do anything. Forget it. I'm wasting too much time.

Not the IP.bin. You shouldn't even have an IP.bin in your archive. ethoscapade meant to say the 1st_Read.bin
