Removing Bios Password

Removing Bios Password
I recently accuired an old computer (Sony Vaio 266 Mhz) and anyways it came with a Bios Password, i've heard taht if you remove the Cmos Battery from the motherboard that it will remove it, but i'm not sure, any pointers?

Why completely remove the battery? there should be a jumper nearby to reset the cmos, and if not, check on the mobo, there should be a jumper labeled as PWD or something of the like, if you remove that, then move it over 1 (like you would for the cmos jumper) it should remove the password.
