center DC LED

Post by gdskater »

I'm thinking of swapping out that ugly orange LED that comes preinstalled on the DC to a super bright blue one!

Does that orange LED take 3.3 V?

And, is it ok to have an LED run when it's hot to the touch, or is that a sign of them about to fry?

here is a link to the LED im gonna swap it out with (its the first one on the list):

An LED generates ZERO heat when running at correct voltage. A little more than normal voltage will resultin low amounts of heat. A lot of heat means it will blow soon.
Why doesn't HTML work anymore on this damn forum!? God!

haha what I find funny is that when i get around to making the dreamcast night light, as noted on riva's website, i'm going to use the White 12000mcd LED, now those will be BRIGHT.

I put a 6000Mcd green one in my Xbox controller plug (post pics later), it really hurts your eyes to look directly at it

ok jesus, all you have to do is get an LED with 3.3 v or a bit higher, desolder the origional, and solder in the new one. GD if you can figure that out... im better than you

Would a 5MM 3V 20mA 55mcd LED work?

EDIT: Damn looks like I need 3.3V or they will blow.

Illuson, yeah but the Ma's are also a lot higher than the voltage it would be getting. Unless you tapped power from the PSU it wouldn't be as bright as it should be
