ooo MrOwNeY4mKaOs is hot and she can draw really well, lol, good work. those drawings could easily just be opened in photoshop and made into a splash. like with the original pictures for backgrounds and menu's on top (like Mikey242 did) or in the style mastakilla does. anyone up for it? I'd do it but haven't learned much about transparencies and such.
Actually, something like that SHOULD be able to be done from within the emu fairly easily, just draw the background and then a rectangle with the correct color and x% transparency on top of that (then your text, etc...). This would also allow theme authors to be more creative with their menus and such. Particularly if it were configurable in the .xml file.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Cool chick, MrOwNeY4mKaOs. I wouldn't want to get on her bad side with claws like that.
It seems I've hit a little snag in development. The sound code is affecting memory it shouldn't. This makes strange things happen and eventuallty leads to a crash. If I disable anything that has to do with sound, then everything works bug free like before. I don't know if this is because of the way I'm using the KOS api for sound streams or if it's just a buggy part of KOS. I'll figure it out before long.
Long story short: This delays the release some. Thought I should let everyone know.

Have you try any other type of drawing style? I personally find anime/manga can get really limited on design, they are looking very alike.

I'm happy again. I've seem to have fixed the sound bug. Sound is crystal clear, as slow as it might be. No matter what game I try, I don't get good speed with sound enabled.
I tried Super R-Type with sound disabled tonight. It's fast! Full speed emulation and drawing about 30/60 frames per second. I wonder what other games will fall into that category.
Man, I was really frustrated for a while there.

Star Fox works... slowly. I haven't tried Super Metroid yet. I'm sure it'll run but who knows at what speed. Probably pretty slow. Complex graphics.
Anyways, I'll be surprised if I don't make a release this weekend. The only thing would hold me back is if I'm too busy. Later all!
I'm pretty sure that the CPU emulation is taking the majority of processing time. It's just that the sound takes it over the edge where it can't skip any more frames in order to make a difference. It just slows down at that point. Once a game drops to 5 fps, any additional work will probably slow it down. But Super R-Type is the best performing game I've tried yet. R-Type 3 was good as well but not to the degree of it's little brother.Alexvrb wrote:Wow, so does the sound code consume more cycles than the video or CPU emulation (but not both)?
