What arcade games would you guys like to see on dc?

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

IMHO it's the best 3D beat'em up I've played by far (a lot greater than Zombie Revenge and also greater than Dynamite Cop). Stages are really big, and in multiplayer mode, each player can be in a different corner of the stage (but it's better to fight near the others ). The only thing that isn't really good in that game is the enemy's IA, it's pretty simple (but effective, like in old style Capcom beat'em ups) and you'll see a lot of enemys in the screen surrounding you all the time.

I think that if you want to buy it, you should get at least 2 cabinets and 2 boards to play with other friend, but I suppose that must be pretty expensive (it's a Model 3 game...).

I want Outrun!!! I can play it on my PC but I want it on my DC.

Why couldn't they have released Games Works as a stand alone game...?

On the subject is it Shenmue 1 or 2 that has the arcade, and if I buy it do I have to play the game to unlock it or can I just put the appropriate disc in?

in shenmue 1 you can play the games early in the game and in shenmue 2 once you find the arcade games save your game. Your arcade games that you had found will be in your saved files and you can play them at anytime.

Speaking of Spikeout, not many people realize that there were actually two sequels made for the NAOMI 1, Slashout and Spikers' Battle (which is more of an arena battle game, but it uses the same excellent fighting system), so those would have been even easier to port to the Dreamcast. Dreamcast GD that conatined both games on it even without any special non-arcade content would have been totally great. By the way, the DC Rent-a-Hero no.1 also uses the Spikeout battle engine, it's basically a Shenmue adventure engine with Spikeout type battles, very cool.

Hey does anyone know when the new sega genesis emu comes out? I wish we had a emu that was full speed and sound. I'm just wondering why the snes emu works better then the sega genesis emu and the snes is a more powerful game system.

From what I remember, the Genesis actually had a faster processor than the SNES. Right?

But then the Genesis rendered most games at 320x240 rather than the SNES's rather pitiful 256x240.

And I wouldn't say the sounds produced by the SNES were better - compare a game like Streets of Rage 2 to a game like Final Fantasy VI (or whatever you consider to be a great sounding SNES game) and I'd say the Genesis came out just as good, if not better. It sounded more real and was significantly more clear, whilst the SNES just sounded a bit like it was being played underwater. And I can't think of a single multi-format game for which the SNES had the superior soundtrack.

Thunder Force 4 and Shinobi 3 also have some great Bgm. Check them out!
For the Snes part listen to Rock'n Roll Racing, really great tunes.

Have you compared the music from Street Fighter II on SNES and Genesis? On Genesis, the voices suck. The music sounds like junk. Maybe it's just me, but everytime I'd play a Genesis game I would cringe. Most of the games had some twangy horrible metal guitar instrument that I couldn't stand. SNES, on the other hand, had music that sometimes truly sounded symphonic. What about the ending to Star Fox? Reminded me of the music from Star Trek: Wrath of Kahn. Genesis music improved a little late in it's day, but not good enough.

I was under the impression that the Genesis could handle voices better because a part of it's sound hardware was dedicated to such a purpose?

But I will admit, my obsession with Genesis music might have something to do with me being a bit of a MIDI whore :P.
