OK - I hate PayPal with a passion now.
They wouldn't let me accept payment because I wasn't 'verified'. I had to add a checking account. OK - I went to go add it - and it was already there! I had so many PayPal accounts over the years, I don't remember which one I added it to, and I sure know that I never verified it, so the checking account is just sitting on PayPal's servers going to waste. Wonderful.
So, I decide to use my savings account. Have to wait for deposit - wait a while - nothing shows up: so I can't verify. Then I log in to see that 5 of the donations to the contest were refunded.
I'm going to create a new checking account today, since Paypal doesn't like my savings account. It will take 3-4 days, and 3 donations expire today, 2 tommarrow, and 1 on Wednesday. Great.
If you made a donation, and it's refunded, don't worry about it. It's not your fault - it's Paypal's stupid policy. I'll cover your donation out of pocket, and keep your name up on the page. I really don't want people to think that I'm out to scam anyone - I'm not, it's just that my family has a history of bad luck when it comes to getting anything important done - and the curse has struck again.

I just went to the bank today - and the small payments from Paypal to verify my account were in there. But the five donations were already returned. Guess what day they got refunded? November 10, 2003. Stupid Paypal - like I could check my account on the weekend.
Well, the first five people on the donator's list have had their money refunded by Paypal. Don't worry about going through the hassle of sending the money again. I'll cover your donation out of my pocket. It's only fair - as it's not your fault, and I don't want you to have to pay more fees because of Paypal's stupidity.
On the bright side, all donations that come in from here on in will be automatically accepted now that I'm verified, so I don't have to worry about this again.

Cool, now I can start adding prizes for 2nd place.butters wrote:I just sent $10. Thought it was worth it. You might want to link to the project page again or put it in your sig, I had to dig through several pages of this thread to find a link to it.
Adding the link to my sig is a great idea, so it's been done.
Thanks everyone for their donations - I'm sure the winners of the contest will be pleased.
