linux dc

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

If there was enough RAM, it wouldn't run at a speed that's anywhere near playable.

There should be a way to actually get it to run, but it would likely be quite slow. I think there are x86 emulators for Linux that load x86-compiled Linux software on non-x86 systems. It depends how much work is done by the game, and how much is given to libraries. It the game does very little, and uses external libraries for graphics and sound, and we have native SH-4 versions of those libraries, it might actually run quite well.

No way. Mugen eats a lot of RAM and need moderated CPU power. Only a native port would work at decent speed.

Appears that it's a closed-source 2d fighting game engine.

Yes, it's closed-source. There are MS-DOS and Linux versions. The creators has been asked a lot of times to make a Win32 port or release the source, but they have no intention on releasing it.
