I noticed a while ago how similar the saturn 3d pad and the dreamcast pad were. This intreaged me so some research I did. For all to feast their eyes apon I will present some pictures.

Edit: WARNING! This post contains excessive use of the word NICE. May be harmful if taken internally.
I've always prefered the full 8 way d-pads such as on the SMS, Genesis and from what I can tell Saturn aswell. Far nicer on the hands. I was also kinda disappointed that Sega went for white after so many black consoles.
Nice to see the evolution though. If you got a nice front on view of all of them you could probably do a nice morph animation.

I beg to differ Maybe I have strangely shaped hands that have been ravaged by years of guitar and video game playing but I dislike the DC controller. I think the button layout is poor, blister inducing analogue stick, and it's abysmal to use with fighting games. Thankfully I have an arcade stick which solves that problemian wrote:yeah the dc padis the best no matter what size your hand is.. like the n64 ones sega pads are coolmkjones wrote:the DC pad altho large is probably the best pad ive ever used.. i have large hands..

I thought the 6-button mega drive controller was the best for MK. I used to pull all the combos in MK3 so easily!!Veggita2099 wrote:I never did like the 6 button genesis controller, something about the control pad makes it hard to play games that require you to put moves in (like Mortal Combat, etc).

The Genesis controller seems so flat after all these years of using hardly anything but Playstation controllers. The Nomad's controls are superb, though.

Hehe, That 6 control port DC on the bottom of that IGN page is some of the worst photoshopping ive seen.
But id like to start a project to make a case like the 2nd prototype DC...Hmm tempting

I think the proper term would be "an MS-Paint job".The Kron wrote:Hehe, That 6 control port DC on the bottom of that IGN page is some of the worst photoshopping ive seen.
I'm tempted to make the "Cockroach Dreamcast". I enjoy the absurd. The only question is - where the heck are the power and open buttons? But id like to start a project to make a case like the 2nd prototype DC...Hmm tempting
