This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.
To tell you the truth there isnt really a "best mp3 player" for dreamcast. They all work great. If I were you I would download all the sbi files and burn them to see which one you like best. Also you know dcdivx plays mp3's. So if you have any burned dcdivx movies just load it up, when it takes you to the menu just switch it with the mp3 disk.
Also if you want, there was this holiday dreamcast release with great applications and homebrew games. I think 3 mp3 players are in there. If you want to download it click here for the web page.
My personal favourite is TO Eleven. This is because the whole user interface is displayed on the VMU. That way I can use my DC as an mp3 player through my sound system and no need for a TV. It's great!
All MP3 players for the DC work very well. The only thing I can think of that is mssing from some of them is that they don't suport VBR. But that doesn't bother since I usually just re-encode the songs to one single bitrate.
DC playa can dispaly long file names (in fact longer than any homebrew ap I've seen so far). Burn it in Mode 2 with Rockridge extensions. And to make it look even better put the correct information in the ID tags. Looks excellent this way. This is my fav mp3 player for the DC.

Re-encoding to a single bitrate is a very bad idea. And To11 supports VBR and MP3Pro, but I've heard DCPlaya supports neither.

I know. I just wish it would update with visualizations and cdg support.
Me? I'm dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest... Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they're going to do something incredibly...stupid.
