Waiting is the key...
sigh... VERY SAD that this didn't get released. Would of probably kept the dreamcast alive. Ooh well....
Now time to extract the ISO, and see if I can get some mods working...LOL
Imagine... Counter-Strike DC... LOL
Pipe dream most likely but hey, we all have our dreams.

since we all know for sure the source isnt going to be avalible any time soon then no. There are no efforts to do anything to the engine itself.
A few people have tried using maps not originally included in the game.
Mods that require any custom game code (new weapons, items, rules, etc) will deffenately not work with HL DC since there is no way to modify the game code. (it is compiled into the engine)
I've not had the time to try out custom maps for myself yet. I also dont really have the spare bandwidth to download a variety of custom maps right now anyway. (not much of a halflife PC fan so never bothered downloading much for it)
If custom maps do work then some custom single player missions (that dont require custom game code) may work. That would be about the extent of our ability to mod HLDC

Okay, but they are still less likely to buy the PS2 version. Or the GBA version, if it should ever get past the early development stages.JoeyStyles66 wrote:The PC version is being released for free through Steamaz_bont wrote:Yes, but if someone downloads the DC version for free, they're less likely to go out and buy the PC or PS2 version.WRAGGSTER wrote:What we do have to remember is that nO money Commercially will be made so its in a bit of a grey area.

A technological demo, and a playable one at that, was produced, and Valve expressed interest, but this was over a year ago. I saw screenshots, and they looked brilliant; the equivalent of a PC at low resolution.MetalGearRay wrote:What? Only free until it's out of beta, notice the "CD Key will be required in the future" messages.JoeyStyles66 wrote:The PC version is being released for free through Steamaz_bont wrote:Yes, but if someone downloads the DC version for free, they're less likely to go out and buy the PC or PS2 version.WRAGGSTER wrote:What we do have to remember is that nO money Commercially will be made so its in a bit of a grey area.

I had a link over a year ago to some massive GBA demo/emu/programming website that had some pretty impressive shots of it running through an emulator, but it was so long ago, the site may not even exist any more.Nico0020 wrote:are there any screen shots on the web of this? or do you have a link?A technological demo, and a playable one at that, was produced, and Valve expressed interest, but this was over a year ago.
