Naomi shooter-> Psyvariar 2: The Intention of Fabrication
Well, about two weeks ago we all started talking about G-rev's Border Down and now it is comming our way, and now the word is over at the Magic Box that Taito is developing a shooter for the Naomi arcade system, Psyvariar 2: The Intention of Fabrication. As it is a sequel, they dropped a little knowledge of what to expect:
This time you control the battle MDS (Medium Drive Suits) to battle the enemies, the popular Buzz system will return to this game, you will gain experience and new power as your level increases, and your level of power will retain even if your machine is destroyed.
And now for some screenshots:
Hopefully my powers of posting persuasion will result in another Dreamcast release. Only time will tell

Why Port When you could have the real thing?
It would be nice to have the actual Arcade version of the NAOMI games. remember when the home version of the NeoGeo came out? Those games were the same games being played in the arcade.. (though the home system and games were very expensive)
If Sega ever thinks about going into the home hardware market again, they should make a Home Version of the NAOMI2 with the GD-ROM Add-On.

Naomi 2 wasnt really to big on the market. Naomi was always the more popular one. Beside a Naomi is a Dreamcast with more ram and it use's carts. I think if Sega wants to go the NeoGeo route they should wait and use Naomi 3 with Cart/GD-Rom for home/arcade use.

You don't need a cart to get no load times for an arcade unit. It powers on once, loads the GD-ROM data into a large amount of relatively inexpensive RAM, and bam. For a home system though it is hard to do something like this since it is powered on and off whenever you want to use it. However, given the gross cost of carts and such, I'll take a standard DVD + HDD setup. It still can have quite short load times as Xbox has proven, and you can stream data plenty fast.
Naomi 3 might have a Series 5 PVR chip, if they go with PVR again. For comparison, DC and Naomi uses a Series 2 chip.

If they wanted to market Naomi 3 as home/arcade all they would have to do is use usb controllers and have rgb/svideo out on the console so people could use it at home too. CD based games would cost $100 new and cart games would be $300.Chainfist wrote:The CART would be a nice feature since there is virtually no load times. It was nice to play Street Fighter back in the day without having to wait for the CD to load...

I'd rather just buy the arcad unit to be honest.DreamBorder wrote:If they wanted to market Naomi 3 as home/arcade all they would have to do is use usb controllers and have rgb/svideo out on the console so people could use it at home too.
