Farewell Online DC...

Post by JDCreationz »

Today, while playing Speed Devils Online, a message scrolled across
the bottom of the screen stating that as of June 25 (or 24?) Sega will
be shutting down all online Dreamcast servers...

Sorry if you already heard the news.

Here's what sega.com had to say:

Attention Dreamcast Gamers - important news regarding online gaming services!
As we continue to focus on the future, it is time for us to disconnect our online Dreamcast game servers. Effective June 2003, the only Dreamcast titles that Sega will continue to support online are Phantasy Star Online and Phantasy Star Online ver. 2. No other Dreamcast titles will be playable online after this time.

We hope you enjoyed our online gaming services that were extended six months beyond the original shutdown date. Thank you for supporting Dreamcast online gaming!

as far as I know 4x4 evo, starlancer, and a unreleased warez bowling game work online with gamespy. and of course quake 3 still runs, as long as someone with a PC host the game.

Funny. In the last few months, whenever I tried to connect to PSO, I never could connect. Those four spinning diamonds on the corner wouldnt stop, and then it would stop trying to connect.

pso servers are STILL online and will be for probably another year or so, Eckostyle, sounds like your connection settings are wrong or something.

That game was screwed up whilst it was online, the lag kinda spoiled it, with that "Safe" thing.

I tried to log onto it using one of SegaLine's ISP setting, but no avail. Looking for a free ISP for PSO is too much of a headache. I need some help finding a decent one for PSO and web browsing.

What about Quake II Arena; it uses the PC servers.
