The Finale
*Ahem* Here it is. A couple of bugs, but playable.

Ok, after many moons (well 3 to be precise) tomorrow is nigh upon us and the conclusion of the contest.
After many personal hardships that kept me away from the keyboard for anything approaching a decent time and my Linux system being down for a short time while I upgraded. I have completed something.
It's not much.
It's a simple shooter. I'll be improving upon it more since I think I did a fair enough job keeping the code semi-modular (except for the last-minute-hacking ) to where it's not going to be too hard to extend this a bit.
The graphics suck, they are my own. Anyone who wants to make some ship sprites for me are welcome. Anything is better than the heroic triangle out to defeat the evil circle-ish things.
I had planned on something better, but then again I had planned on being able to do more coding. Real life cannot be predictied. All in all, I'd have to say that the first 2-3 weeks and the last 2 weeks were the most time I spent on writing the code. The rest of the time I just cursed a lot and had other plans. (Which included a trip to Baton Rouge and 3-4 trips to Houma.)

Really, it crashes when SFX Volume is below 70? Damn, the sound effects were thrown in at the last moment, I never tested it that extensively.law wrote:fun game, booted it via bba... it crashed when i tried changing sfx volume below 70.. otherwise its fun, though i die way too fast ( i think at about 8000 i was game over most of the times )
its ugly, but what the hell, the contest is about coding, right ?
Actually I drew it myself.burnerO wrote: Funfunfun, and chaotic might I add.
The movement of the enemies is extremely sparatic, making it difficult to get a very high score.
The graphics look like they were ripped from DCStella, but I couldn't do anything better myself.
Props to you.
And enemy movement is random. It was the best pattern I could pound out in the allotted time.

DC dead also? Mine didnt die yet but so many peoples DC did. I am thinking of buying a new one just incase.BlackAura wrote:I think there's about zero chance of me releasing mine - my DC's been broken for a couple of days, and only boots occasionally. If I can get it working again, there's a slim chance I might release something. I seem to have only a few hours, so I may as well get to it.

Sounds like the famous reset problem. http://www.dcemulation.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=3907. A DC of someone I know had this problem as well, following that guide fixed it.BlackAura wrote:Keeps resetting. Should be repairable, but I need to take it apart to find out. I think it's a loose connection somewhere, because hitting it makes it work for a little while.

Re: The Finale
I just tried it. Nice work. I like the fluid movement of the background.toastman wrote:I have completed something.
