how come nesterdc says only put 1024 games on it?

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

That's just the maximum it allows - but you can spread your ROMs across multiple directories if you like.

To do that, just place several directories in the 'games' folder (I think it's called that). And it's probably 1024 because computers work in twos: 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024. And compatibility is brilliant, over 99%. It even supports the Famicon Disk System, Keyboard, Lightgun and more.

Yep - you'll need the unnoficial version that supports it, and it doesn't support all lightguns, but it's still pretty cool.

Why would you want it to be less than what it is?

What's wrong with not rounding it off?

People think differently
I cringe when I grab nine oreos... so I grab another to round it off! :D
Also, if I have to change my alarm clock, if I go over the time by a minute, I go through 59 minutes to get it even (ie I can't go back on the minutes on my alarm clock, same with the hour button).

Does the newest version only support 1024 roms? Because a friend of mine gave me a Nester DC with over 2000 roms on it (claimed).

Well, to me, 1024 is a round number. That's what you get for doing computer/programming stuff all the time.

so if you have 2000 roms you can split it from a to l and from l to x (to different directories) and it works? too bad my 8822 nes roms take up 1.7 gb.. wats the most space you can get on a cd?

I have about 900 ROMs. That's more than enough for me.

Oh, and DaFuzz, to answer your question... a CDR will hold anywhere from 650MB to 750 I beleive. Most disks however will hold 700MB, but you also have to consider the first audio track if you make the disk bootable. If you have more than that, you can make seperate ROM disks

If you used 99 minute CD-Rs, a self-boot copy of NesterDC would hold 840MB. You could create two seperate discs, each capable of self-booting, so that you could either start them seperately or swap when you wanted to.
