Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

The Dreamcast Emulation Knowledge Base is opened!

Post by Captain Skyhawk »

In general there is a lot of information for each DC emulator. The only problem is, the info is hard to find. Also a real good source of very good info can be find on these forums. But all the information here is fragmented. This results in topics with same questions over and over again. In the worst case users are trying to find something out, that has already been find out much earlier but the answer is hidden in these big forums.

I wanted to stop this and make all the knowledge that is known for the emu's available at one site. All the information saved for the future and all the answers to questions directly available! So I created with a lot of work the:

Dreamcast Emulation Knowledge Base

It's not yet complete for all emulators, but for the ones who are complete you can find as much info as I could add. So information from these forums, readme, sites and my own knowledge. I'm hoping that when it's finished it can answer all the questions people will have about Dreamcast Emulators. This project has taken a lot of my time so I hope it is usefull to everyone in the scene!

Thank you for your positive reactions!

True, I opened it now because I saw a lot of questions asked that where in the knowledge base. And I figured it can take many more months for I can finish it, so why not open it with the parts already done?

Good stuff Cap!

Finally a guide to customizing FrNES :D I'm impressed that you dug the "poor old DC NES emu that time forgot" out to do all that :D Great level of detail!

This looks like an awesome project, and I think would be a great assistance to those getting into the scene.

Looks great - I specially like the impossible/fake emulators bit.

Updates

Post by Captain Skyhawk »

Thanks again for all the reactions, really motivates me to work on it even harder.

First off, the site has gotten a new adres: http://dckb.dcevo.com . Thanks to LyonHrt for setting me this faster and more bandwith server up.

I now have integrated the original Bleem!FAQ and updated it here and there. Removed some parts as the original FAQ was heavily outdated (when is MGS going to ship? ;)) I added also some info that was posted here on the beta by Rod Maher and Rand Linden. In the previous days I added some new fake emu's (thanks to Lyon for the suggestions) including for Dream 64.

I want to ask again, not to email me with new questions. Only email me for corretions! You can use these forums to ask other questions. And is it me or did the site generate a lot more NesterDC questions?!

I've got some tutorials on manually creating selfboot kits, along with some info I've managed to collect/discover on the selfbooting disc format, if you want it.

Thanks for the offer, but I first want have the emulator part ready before I go into the deep with burning tutorials. You can always send it to may so I can add it at a later date.

ATani coded the only available homebrew Sega Genesis emulator for the Dreamcast, DCGenerator, as well as multiple Windows and Linux emulators, so I'd say of course DC-GBA was real. He had no reason to fake it, and he's real cool guy - so it'd go against his character to do so.
