There've been a few silly posts with regards to source/newer betas. Neither can ever be released. Period.
It would be a lot of work to get the speed up. It's not just a matter of converting to asm (that's what a C compiler does), but more in changing your architecture to match the DC hardware. The quality is going to be dependent on their core, so I can't speculate about it.q_006 wrote: in your opinion if the code were converted to asm, would it run as fast as bleem!cast or faster? also would it be of same quality as the beta?
Only PC and DC versions were in development. I don't know what other platforms bleem would have ended up on if the company continued.Stormwatch wrote: Can you give us any further information on the Mac version of Bleem? I know (correct if mistaken) that it was never released. But how far was it into developement? Any chance to have it ever released?
This is not true unless the sole purpose of the product is circumvention. The DMCA is not intended to prevent competition (although a lot of companies are trying to use it in this regard).farrell2k wrote:I was just a first-year law student before I decided that I couldn't take it anymore, but according to the DCMA, anything that allows the circumvention of any copy protection method, on any copyrighted work, is illegal.
It depends on where you live. Here in Australia modchips are legal for dvd's and consoles because of the illegal territorial lockouts implemented by the manufacturers.MOD chips are illegal because they circumvent Sony's copy protection schemes and allow you to play illegally copied games on CDR.
Actually this was the intention (to focus on all the hit titles). We showed off the FF9 bleempak on the site, but the company folded before it was released.|darc| wrote:It was pretty clear that bleem! wasn't going to be able to make a bleem!pak for every one of the PSX's hits, especially huge ones like the Final Fantasy series games.

Does anybody know the personal addresses of all the Sony senior staff, as well as a few spare letterbombs?melancholy wrote:This statement alone is enough reason to cause even the most diehard Playstation fan to hate Sony.Rod Maher wrote:We showed off the FF9 bleempak on the site, but the company folded before it was released.

Let it Bleem!
A tribute to Bleem!
When I find myself in times of trouble
Randy Linden comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it Bleem!.
And in my hour of darkness
Sony is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, lets kill Bleem!.
Let it Bleem!, let it Bleem!.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it Bleem!.
And when the broken Dreamcast people
Living in the world agree,
There will be an answer, its called Bleem!.
For though they may be parted there is
Still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer, let it Bleem!.
Let it Bleem!, let it Bleem!. Yeah...
There will be an answer, its called Bleem!.
And when the night is cloudy,
There is still a light that shines on me,
Shine on until tomorrow, let it Bleem!.
I wake up to the sound of Sega
Randy Linden comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it Bleem!.
Let it Bleem!, let it Bleem!.
There will be an answer, let it Bleem!.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it Bleem!.
To the Bleem!ers.... Long Live Bleem...

Yeah you guys, bleems dead. Let it go.
And to the jerks who asked how to somehow impliment save support(No, not the guys who asked if it was going to be implimented. I know the difference in what you were asking) get a life. What you see is what you get kiddies. bleem's dead so quit poking around here if that's all that concerns you.
I too burnt the beta to see what it would be like and I was amazed. I'm not going to play it anymore, seeing as how I have a playstation and a ps2. But that bleemcast beta's going to sit in my room so I can show it off to friends, and sort of as a memento I guess. I've played the bleemcast stuff that was released and I am also really stoked to show that off to friends. The dreamcast was a very capable system and it's a shame that it was so short-lived.
Atleast we still have a very great homebrew community, so lets focus on that. We don't want to keep bugging Rand and mr. Mahor because I'm sure that it sucked being in court with Sony. They did all they could with the time they were given, so lets enjoy the legal bleemcast discs.

Why not other guys tries to make a psx emulator in asm ?
we have a lot of good programmers, your guys doesnt need copy the bleemcast code to make it. Just try and make other by yourselves. (who can code) , the problem is , people want things like enhance and stuff, and make things harder, why not start with a simple emu, trying to run at full speed, then later putting enhance? jesus, its not impossible i guess.
PS: i cant code, but if a small company like bleem could make a wonderful emulator(thanks guys), other people can make too.

I would like to recode some of MAME in SH4 ASM. It doesn't scare me, I just have no point of reference - can anyone point me to some SH4 ASM resources?
I'm also wholly unskilled at mixing C and ASM - but that should be simple...
Can you name the 3 BlackAura?!

I know of - Dan Potter, Marcus C(however his last name's spelt) and Sayten. I expect that there are a few more, but they're just the ones I know of.
I've also tried, but I have practically zero point of reference, aside from compiling a simple program with GCC into ASM, and trying to work out what it's doing. All I've worked out so far is that the C calling convention is really inefficient.
