How should they rebuild the WTC?
I'm watching this show on the Discovery Channel about that very subject. I think that instead of simply rebuilding the two towers, they should build a single tower so tall that it will be a long, long time before anyone else in the world can catch up.

heh it was decided last week on what to build.
check out
ny1.com
nyc.gov
etc....
fucking 9-11 really screwed up our city. gov and mayor cuting funds like crazy. now one bus/subway ride will be $2 that is just for one way.
my college tutition going up. mother's job seems like their almost dead.
imagine just one attack on an area of only lets say 5 x 5 blocks can affect the whole world.

Yup, there is a project already approved. Whether it will be built or not remains to be seen. Personally, I don't like it. It's too "avant garde" for New York City. An update on the twin towers concept would have been better.

just rebuld them as they were... the whole idea of terrorism is to make life change.... If you build it back the way they were nothing will have changed.. their mission failed.. ( not that it did... the amount of fake patriots these days worries me )

9/11 succeeded for the terrorists beyond all hopes. It finally blew a hole in our trembling economy, the final pill that pushed us over the edge into recession. We quickly passed a bunch of laws restricting rights and immediately became even more xenophobic. And now we're pushing to start a war in the Middle East - which is EXACTLY what they want.not that it did
That said.. I thought the two towers were hideous. They represented everything I disliked about modern architecture in America. And I'm usually a "function before form" kind of guy, but man... Just build something that works but isn't an eyesore.

Excellent(sp?) point. I would'nt mind working there though. But sometihng a lot harder for terrorist attacks. Can you imagine if a month after it's all up and running it happens again in some way ?Veggita2099 wrote:I think several smaller buildings is the best idea. People seem to want to blow that building up too much. You couldn't pay me enough to ever work there.

yeah that's what I'm saying... their mission didn't fail. Everyday life has been altered..Lartrak wrote:9/11 succeeded for the terrorists beyond all hopes. kinda agreed b4 9-11 my old architecture professors would goof on how bad the wtc was designed. but it was still remarkable how they built those massive towers on which was once swamp like land. they had to rebuild that whole area structually like 20 stories down.Lartrak wrote:That said.. I'd like to take this moment to point out the irony that people keep saying that 'it has to be remembered' while at the same time many of the same people have been systematically erasing it from all imagery... As though they actually don't want anyone to remember that there was a time when they WERE there.... only that they are not there.BornStupid wrote:... it's an event that HAS to be remembered.
