well most systems are better then what people make out specs dont = what it can do some times IT take's the skill of the programer

Looks amazing. But then, so did DMC2 before I found out that they trashed the high quality level textures in exchange for larger level areas. Looks like the same engine for DMC too. If it's in an RPG style though, then I'll definitely get it.

reaper is 100% correct. If a coder knows and has the skill, even PS2 can handle very intense graphics.

With that said, are the cut scenes realtime or CG?

No systems get the credit they deserve. GBA is a perfect example. The thing has an amazing 3d engine made by pocketeers. Check out the site the website its amazing what these guys can do.

The ps2 isn't weak, nor has that ever really been claimed. It's just painful to program for, to exploit it to its full potential. That being said,...

the cut scenes gotta be CG. The top-of-the-line-behind-the-scenes-top-secret -won't-come-out-for-another-year-video cards can't display graphics like that yet. But Nvidia want you to believe otherwise.

PS2 is considerably weaker then GCN and xbox. It is not WEAK period though - just starting to age. This is not really a big problem, and it bothers me that people base so much on graphics.

Sometimes I miss the days of the NES - it had a virtual monopoly for like 7 years. One system that everyone had, strict control policies by Nintendo, it was a very different time.

I think there real time. If you remember correctly MGS2 had cut screens this quality before they took then out saying they where a waste of disk space.

thats the same thing that i was trying to say in one of my earlier topics, that we are being ripped of by gfx card makers, cos they are trying to make us believe that we need the latest card to run the lates games smootly, and it's true in a since, but only cos they make it that way, when really they could just make the game run just about or if not as good as what they could with one of the newer gfx cards.

The PS2 is just an overhyped, but still capable piece of hardware. Thank goodness it's nearing the end of its life cycle.

I wish Sony would leave the console industry. Both there systems was always inferior hardware wise to the other consoles. But they get such good 3rd party support they can keep going. Id love it if I found out Sony lost there console to Nintendo (or something similar). Then all my fav games would go to GC or Xbox and look twice as nice. Also I think a lot of game companies that release multiplatform games hold back on Xbox and GC cause of the PS2. IT would be easier to make a inferior game to work on the PS2 then make a superior game on Xbox or GC then downgrade it to PS2. How many people has seen Splinter Cell on PC or Xbox and then said EWWW when they seen the PS2 version. But if they had made the Xbox version look like the PS2 version then nobody would have really noticed.

Hope I made my point.
