The Best Emulators for the Dreamcast

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

Post by ushker »

Hi I want to know which are the best performing emu's for the DC. I also don't want to waste a lot of CD-R's. I am looking for
SNES
Atari 2600
Sega Master System
Sega Genesis

Thanks so much

DCGenerator's not that good at the moment. It's quite slow, and has no sound. If you really must have a Mega Drive emulator, try it out, but it isn't really that playable at the moment.

You could also use DreamInducer to put all of those on one CD, so you'll only use the one CD-R.

Hey, sorry but snes and sega are really messed up at the moment and dreamsnes is going REALLY slow right now, but if you want gameboy or NES than use either NESterDC or Gnuboy(sorry i can't spell that one right lol)

dcgenerator has a bunch of major problems such as no sound, very slow moving all the time, the graphics get weird from time to time and some words or characters apear upside down.

The atari 2600 emulator rocks! Full speed on most games that I've tried. Stella DC 0.2e now will play Pitfall II which because of different use of memory was impossible until now. Great job StellaDC!

There is no GBA for the Dreamcast, and I doubt there ever will be. There's a decent GB/GBC emulator though.
