no
No. There is absolutly NO way to play Divx on Dreamcast. However, you can watch an MPEG movie. Or a standard .AVI, but not Divx.

YES you can!
(sorry about the microsoft quote ;)
The only way to play DivX on your DreamCast is to convert the Div-X *.avi
to SofDec Data Format (*.sfd) using Sega Dreamcast Movie Creator (sorry, no link). SFD is the format the dreamcast is playing any type of movie intro you see on your DC games.
Hope this helps you some.

yeah
I said "there is no way to play DIVX on Dreamcast", and SFD isn't Divx.
But if you think of it that way, why use SFD? You can use MPEG! Much better.

yeah
SFD is MPEG video with a proprietary audio stream.
There are many SFD tools out there, just make sure you decode the audio from any movies you wish to burn (for this you can use VirtualDUB).
The problem is, the player is illegal. You could however.. use a web browser.

If anyone would like to see what kind of quality you can get with .sfd encoding you might like to check out this page on your DC browser and see why sfd encryption is the closest thing to DivX you'll get on DC in terms of quality, compressed size and playback rates.
