Dreamcast is dead

Post by SpiderW »

Holy crap, today I go to play my dreamcast and its just dead, I let me sister play it the last couple of days and now it wont work normal, the problem is, it keeps resetting itself, this has happened for ages, about half a year but now, its really bad, last time it got bad I just opened it and cleaned it, I also open it up when I run it so it doesn't over heat, but now it just wont stay running, The best I got was up to the character select screen on Sonic Adventure. What the hell can I do? Is my only option to buy another one? They probobly arn't too expensive, but finding a full on good working one would be tough.

Hmmm... Just tried pressing down on all the power supply stuff, I could feel stuff 'popping' into place, but I havn't tested it yet, will do it later. It should either work or just be totally stuffed, but it was worth a shot.

I looked at that guide from dream-alive really briefly, but I don't think it said anything about cleaning off the pins. http://www.dcemulation.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=3907 This guide says to rub off any dirt and stuff. Try following that!

Cleaning sounds like a pretty good idea, when I was first game enough to open it up (3 years of gaming) it was full of shit, gave it a good cleaning up since then, that got it working a little better for a while, I'll continue checking out all these links in a hope to keep the machine alive, but I think I'll probobly end up getting the gamecube, that Godzilla game looks so damn good, I've downloaded 30 megs worth of movie and I got a 56k net :P have a look at it here http://gamenation.com.au/product/?action=view&id=952 its not the best graphical game, but looks almost as fun as anything. But I've always been into the old godzilla movies, so all you probobly don't see the point in it.
