Free Program similar to CuteFTP

Is there a really good FTP program similar to CuteFTP. I have tried CuteFTP and really like it, but the $40.00 price tag seems a little high. So if you know any free ones please post them here.

I use smartftp. It's really good. I've also heard good things about flashfxp

I use a program called FileZilla. Haven't had any problems with it and seems to have most of the functions of CuteFTP.

well, you could internet explorer for FTP stuff. I personally use WS_FTP Pro

anyway, to use Internet Explorer as an FTP client, just do this:

ftp://username:password@ftp.host.com

you can also use DOS as an FTP client by going into DOS and typing:

ftp ftp.host.com

after it connects it will say:

user:

type username & hit enter

then it will say:

pass:

type PASSWORD

then just use DIR to get a list, then CWD to the DIR

and to get a file, type:

get remote.file local.file

it will download a file named"remote.file" to your "windows" directory with the name "local.file".

you get the idea.

the only bad thing is that if you use the DOS ftp client, it downloads in ASCII format instead of BINARY, which means you can only download and upload text documents without them getting all fugged up.

Job done. Most FTP sites accept anonymous logons - username = anonymous, password = email address (although you can usually type in blah@blah.com and it accepts it).

smart FTP is the best of the lot multi thread connections open as many ftp servers at the same time its the best cuteftp has got nothing on it go download it

its easy picks up cut and paste ftp urls etc ive used it for about 2 years now

I agree with the other posters, Smart FTP has almost all the same options as cuteFTP and is completely free

(although, I do like the CuteFTP layout better than that of SmartFTP)

There is a basic program called Coffeecup ftp which is freeware. There is no adware or shareware crap with it. I use it to upload files to my website. I got it from tucows.com

uhm no. I've used smartFTP matter of fact I was there when it first came out. It's not a very powerful program just not, never will be. FlashFXP combines powerful ftp tools with an easy interface. Also allows quick FXPing between sites which imho is very very very useful.
