Webhost suggestions?

Ok, here's the scenario:

I want to start a small video gaming website with some of my friends. I need a suggestion for a host that has one of the following sets of features (and of course is free):

PHP and MySQL
or
CGI (with CHMOD command available in FTP).

Any suggestions?

it says free domain names (yoursite.com) but the peeps on the forums seem to say otherwise... What does this mean?

Looks good at first glance, but check out all the restrictions in the agreement.

From that it looks like you get a normal crappy address free and if you manage to buy a domain somewhere else you can point it there.

I use Lycos Tripod (UK) service - it has PHP and MySQL for free. Only problem sometime is speed.

I'm really hoping for something in North America, for the reason of speed, but I'll considder Tripod (UK), if I can't find anything else. Its better than Tripod in the US (where my site is currently).
