This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Need elf2bin

Post by butters »

I am working on making a dreaminducer disk with every homebrew listed on http://www.dcemulation.org/homebrew and I can't seem to find a copy of elf2bin on any of the 3 major sites. I thought it was included in dssbs but it wasn't, so I am stuck with some nasty .elf files until then.

While I am on the subject of dchomebrew, I noticed that several (about 10) homebrew games do not have plain files or only have .sbi's. I am going to do this to hard way for experience so these .sbi's are useless to me. When I am done (eventually) I will share with anyone who wants it (my image) in irc.

If you don't want to use sbi, that's fine. But if you're looking for plain files, they're not "useless". Actually, they all contain plain files that are descrambled and ready for use with DreamInducer.

To extract a sbi into plain files:
Create a new directory
Save a sbi into it
Rename the .sbi extension to .exe
Run the exe

Enter the Inducer directory that is created and you will find plain files.

Hope this helps.

I didn't realize that .sbi's were executable. I guess it's been too long since I have done any burning.

Thanks for all the links. Hopefully I can get this to work. More than likely I will wind up using sbi.
