MegaMan X Oddisy Problem

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

MegaMan X Oddisy Problem

Post by KoH_Kirby »

I burned Megaman X using nero and it completed 100% but when I put it in my dc is goes to the music menu, i figured it was a problem i made but i used a DC emulator and it goes to the sega logo with megaman holding a sabre, then it freezes.

Additional info:

The Cd is labled "New" i figure this is the problem but what do i rename it 2?

Mine did the same thing at first.... except it would reset my DC after a litte while. Then I burned a new disk, and it work fine. So it probably just had an error in the burning process. Just try buning a new disk. It will probably work then. Good luck.
I'm not angry, I'm just pissed.

Is this game still being worked on?? i considered downloading it. but
we only have afew cdRs left so i decided against it until a later more
complete version (or at least till i get more cdRs.)

Also just wondering but is it worth downloading at this stage even?

Anyways sorry for adding questions on this post.
But to try and answer them. the cd label doesnt usualy make a diffrence
(my nesterDC cd is named New as well as my DooMDC cd. that
probably isnt the problem)

From were im at (looking at your cd layout) it could very well be just a missing file or something. also the way you burned it (the easiest way is to use the nero cd images that are downloadable at many sites and just burn it directly from there. if your useing the plain bin files use the dssbs (umm thinks thats right) to make it into a self boot disk.

If all that is done. make sure its a cdR not RW (already made this mistake
once. If none of that works try downloading from a seperate download source (well if you have plenty of cdRs to run it from. (or if you can run it from an emulator without burning it (dont know how that works as ive never tried emulating a dc before) then i guess that would be easy to try.

Ummmm or like stated before the files that were passed around could
have simply been missing a file. (i tend to overthink things though so of
course this is the last possibility i see in my mind)

Ok im tierd. if this doesnt make any sense thats why. night night
*falls asleep at the computer*

Get a dreamcast.
If you think typing 'make' is hard, forget coding.
If you can't figure out the commands to DC-Tool, forget coding.
If you think coding is as easy as typing printf("Hello World\n"); , shoot yourself.

Its still being worked on on and off as far as I know, but I think the focus of it has become the engine rather than the game itself - ie MrSiggler is going to release it as a level editor type thing where you get to make your own 2D platformers out of it.

At the moment its basically a technical demo - you can make MegaMan run around and jump and stuff, but theres no shooting or enemies built in, or end to any levels. Its just MegaMan running round a big empty platform level.... but for anyone running short on CDs Id say its probably worth a burn on a Dream Inducer CD

Mine got to the Sega info, + Megaman holding a light sabre, but then resets my DC, i've tried 3 times (3 different burns) and just can't get it right.

Perhaps i'm burning the plainfiles wrong? I use Linux by the way... however cdrecord, msinfo, ect are all the same as in windows/dos. :D
