Does 90+ min cdr's work in the dc?

Post by Axe »

Ok, I think I've read somewhere (but I can't find it now) that the Hello Kitty and Saukura Taisen SE dc's can't handle cdr's longer than some 81 mins. Does this apply to all dreamcast's?

Would be great to be able to use these cheep 99 min cdr's for dreamsnes (I could fit my whole selection).

If they don't work, what is the limit?

Well, I've heard that 90 minure CD-Rs work in almost everything but 99min CD-Rs have a hard time reading in a lot of stuff - And when they do it takes about a minute for them to be recognised by the drive.

If you have a mod chip does it make 99 minutes CDRs read better?

Well the mod chip my friend has makes it read CDRW abd he was talking about how drives that read cdrw's read smoother than drive that dont.

I think your friend was talking about a modification to the GDrom reader; one which increases the power going to the laser, making it read the CDRWs. No modchip would do this, it's actually a theoretically simple mod to do to the dreamcast.

I think cless was talking out of his ass. Which seems to be the only orifice he is able to speak from.

One of my friends had a modchip installed in his dreamcast to play an imported Macross game. Too bad I didn't know about the Utopia boot disc then.

Online stores sell them but I dont think best buy does. Hell best buy still sells 700MB disk instead of 800MB.

Cless, do you have windows XP?

If you do, put that 800mb CD-R in your CD Writer, go to my Computer, and choose the CD writer, and it should say near the start menu how much space it really can have put on it.
