That's pretty cool, except for the bit about needing PS2 Linux, but at any rate it's a step in the right direction for the PS2 sk3n3.

You need to buy PS2 Linux, which I have heard is VERY expensive.. Anyone confirm this?

Linux will run on a modchip though, if you wanna pay the money...

Also, I've heard of unofficial builds of Linux coming to PS2... but they might not have the speed though.. I'll keep you guys updated none-the-less

Sony has released Linux for the PS2 themselves in Japan, and have recently announced its being released over here. Its around ?300 (UK pounds), and comes with a USB 40gig HD, and network card. And some GS and VU manuals I believe!

Since Linux and GNU are all free, Sony had to release the source to the compilers and Linux. So you "should" be able to do it yourself if you want.... ?

Yeppers, BUT, phat linux is coming out for PS2 so I've been told, hopefully, that will be compatible

Does anybody else know if we are gonna see much emulation for the PS2 and will we all need other kit to run the emus besides a modchip?

Well me and Shane_Majin are porting SNES9x to PS2... I'm only helping by showing the right tools to get and set-up the PS2 dev enviroment...

There are hombrew demos and libs etc. so there is a DEFINATE possibillity for PS2 emulators that ONLY require a modchip
