Bad news for Nintendo, Gamecube cracked

Yes it was only a matter of time as there are reports that in Hong Kong the Gamecube has been cracked & pirite games are already appearing this is bad news indeed, while I dont argue that theres a real danger of games being overpriced I also dont condone Warez. well u can already buy a pre=modded JAP game cube over at lik-sang.com...

I was not refering to the mod as that just allows imports to work, this new procedure requires an add-on device to read the disc as DVD-Rs wont fit in the GC (the add-on reportadly plugs into one of the expansion slots.

Hey, it can play mini DVD-R and Mini-CD too, but MINI-DVDs are about $50 for 10 at the mo....

I wouldn't start shedding tears for the Big N yet - they're the only company with a console on the market that *makes a profit* on each one sold; unlike SEGA, Sony, MS etc (who sell consoles at *below cost* to try and get market share) every gamecube sold nets Nintendo $30-40 profit...

Unfortunately, warez tends to make a console more popular thanks to cheap skates... its only when you have something like the DC where pirate games are *SO* easy to come by, and you arelosing *SO* much money on every hardware unit sold you're totally screwed...

Actually, yeah, now I think about it, the Gamecube DOES lose money.. Appaerntly this is the first Nintendo machine to do this...

I read somewhere Nintendos profits are soaring because the current stupidly low cost of RAM means they *are* making a profit on it...
But it could just be that darn disinformation the Internet is so fond of...

loosing money from the production of the console, tho other products may be keeping them above the red.
