More Shameless/Shameful Self-Promotion

Post by S. Thompson »

...figured I'd swing by with another thread of shameful/shameless self promotion. I just released a short EP of miscellaneous electronic music I've done over the past few years on Bandcamp - https://stevethompson.bandcamp.com/album/rtrofutr

It's pay-what-you-want, so you can download it totally free if you enjoy any of the music. I have to stress that these are not traditional songs in any sense and most were made as a learning experience/for fun. A few listeners have said they enjoyed the video gamey vibe of a few of the tracks though.

Anywho, didn't want to spam the hell out of the DC Emu community, but I know a few people enjoyed some stuff I released in the past. :)

I enjoyed it. I listen to a lot of chiptunes though.

I especially liked Bled Dry. I'd like to see more as you gain experience with this type of stuff.

Thanks for taking a listen and for the feedback! Bled Dry was specifically inspired by a guy originated from Western PA who goes records/performs under the name Tobacco. Check his stuff out if you're into some more destructive, strange electronic. Com Truise was also in heavy rotation when I worked on a few of these - can't recommend that guy enough either. :)

I actually did four or five songs that are much more in-line with straight chiptune music a year or two ago. Unfortunately, the developer of that game has kind of halted the project and, out of respect for them, I am holding onto the music until it can begin development again. Without sounding like a pompous a-hole, I actually think those are some great, old-school-sounding video game tunes; I really hope the project picks back up so they can be part of the game and people can hear them.

Oh yeah! There's definitely some hiphop-inspired beats going on - I'd love to work with some MCs in the future and make some killer group tracks like we used to get in hiphop... you know, with just like 4 or 5 guys trading verses and trying to one-up each other.

I discovered Com Truise when creating a chiptunes Pandora station a few months ago -- I'm a fan. :)

Keep us posted. Hopefully we'll get to hear them.

It says it's for $21.

I am listening to it though.
I really wished you could have done a remix for SLaVE.

At least you will be credited as a beta tester. :)

Yeah! I was actually thinking recently about SLaVE and wondering if the final release timeline had been figured out. It's fun and fast paced! :)

I want to say I sent a PM on those boards regarding music a while back and never heard anything - maybe I just never got a notification, but I'm always more than happy to contribute what I can to these sort of projects.

Safe to assume it will be distributed physically at MGC 2016.
I think the discs should head to the press any day now.
I will have to check with Isotope again...
