Sylverant is a homebrew open source server for Phantasy Star Online. Dreamcast users still play PSO online with this server even today! This is the official forum for both the online game server as well as the open source project itself. Feel free to post and get a gathering started online! We can also show you how to get connected!
Ah. Yes, the numbers on the inner rim of the GD-ROM are not relevant to your serial number/access key pair. As you've said, it's not an issue to not register your serial number, except for a few features that you miss out on.
As long as whatever he's using is working ok, then there's no need to worry.
How those numbers got validated as a SN/AK on Sylverant website beats me, I suspect his lobby music not playing may be due to a GD scratch or something more trivial. Anyway, glad to get this all cleared up!
There are 10 types of people. Those who understand binaries and those who don't.
PSOv1 is a bit dumb and lets you type any numbers you want, but the GD-ROM factory production numbers on the surface of the disc are not valid PSO serials, which is probably why Sylverant rejects them. PSOv1 may accept them, but PSOv2 probably won't when it asks you to reenter your V1 serials when making a new character. As such, it would be impossible to play V2 on that Dreamcast without erasing its flash memory and deleting any characters that use those invalid serials.
TulioAdriano wrote:Yeah but I don't think those numbers were entered in his DC as serials, rather, the serials were already there when he purchased that DC.
Which would cause problems if he were to "upgrade" to PSOv2 and try to transfer over the characters. PSOv2 would require you to re-enter the serial numbers, which won't work if you don't have them. Meaning the only way to use PSOv2 would be to erase the Dreamcast's flashrom and start over with new characters.
That said, as long as he's just playing PSOv1, there won't be any problem at all.
Will I be able to save the serials on a Dreamcast that already stores V2 serials?
As far as registering, Is registering SNAK on sylverant.net all I need to do?
Is there anything else I need before connecting?

To answer the questions in order:
1. I don't remember there being any issues having V2 and NTE serials on the same Dreamcast. I'm reasonably sure that my setup did have both, and I don't recall there being any problem.
2. Register your serial/access key on the website, and boot with the PSO Patcher disc.
Of course, there's not all that much you can do with the NTE... But that's another story.
I have some questions now that I'm playing in the dreamcast

You can take screenshots in-game, but they're pretty low resolution, and they basically require an empty VMU. It's really not worth it.
PSOv2-only quests use functionality that isn't available in PSOv1, and thus are not available for PSOv1 clients.
It is possible to place the code /legit
to prevent hackers to play with me in a room set up for me?
I tried to make the command
but the message ( not avaiable in game ) appear to me
or it is not possible in the dreamcast ? thx advice
